KatnissMellark · 21/02/2019 07:14

Oh good luck. I was induced and it was a very positive experience. Why are you being induced?

Mumstheword1987 · 21/02/2019 07:59

KatnissMellark I have severe spd I suffer seizures and also have group strep B

Oh gosh @Mumstheword1987, get that baby out! I had a complex pregnancy, 20+ weeks of bleeding, lost a twin, underactive thryoid, strep b, few episodes of reduced movement and suspected slow down in growth so couldn't wait for it to be over and baby in my arms. I know many people try to avoid induction but for me it was absolutely the right thing. I hope all goes well for you and you feel the same. I'd advise taking lip balm and throat sweets if you're going to use gas and air, as it absolutely destroyed my throat and mouth.

How you doing OP? Xx

OP - hope everything’s going well. If you don’t mind me asking, How did you get tested for strep B? It’s something I was concerned about during my pregnancy but they don’t routinely test for it.

Mumstheword1987 · 23/02/2019 18:21

wombatsears the only reason they did test me for it was I've had it in a previous pregnancy

Congrats OP! Flowers

@wombatsears I was concerned about this too, I had a look online after watching this morning, they were discussing it on there. I found a private company which you can order a home testing kit and send back to the labs for £35 (they only charge once you send the sample back) A lot of people on Facebook have said it was worth it, my kit arrived last week but I’m only 33 weeks and it’s recommend to use between 36-40 weeks. Apparently takes 3 days for results.

Only problem is that I’ve read people can read negative one day and be positive the next! Confused I decided to get one anyway and just thought I’d leave you with the link incase you wanted to look further in to it. www.groupbstreptest.co.uk/order-form/
