Sinusitis pain

Any good tips for sinusitis? Am in genuine agony and feel like sledgehammers are demolishing my fave from the inside out. It's that bad I awoke in pain numerous times last night. I'm using vicks on my chest, inhaling olbas oil, taking paracetamol. I've tried steamy water and massaging the areas and nothing is working. I have an eight month old too and am also back at work, so being this out of action isn't good.

Thanks!

The only thing that worked for me was acupuncture!

I can recommend a neti pot, it looks like a small teapot with a funny shaped spout that you fill with sterilised salt water and tip into one nostril it then flushes the sinuses and all the gunk comes out of the other nostril, you then repeat it on the other side. There are plenty of demos on YouTube.

Once you get it clear ( it may take a few goes) you can keep it clear with vicks smeared by your nostrils.

Hope you start feeling better!

I'm in exactly the same way. Paracetamol just isn't helping. I think I'll have to try a netipot next as vicks isn't doing anything either.

I think I have just had sinusitis but the gp told me it was ear and throat infections. I got the most relief from a cold cloth on my face at night time (not a medical professional just saying what worked for me). My face was so sore and this really helped. I hope you get some relief soon. [Flowers]

Google pressure points for sinusitis.

You might need antibiotics if it isn’t clearing. Worth a check with the GP. They must be miserable being pregnant with it

I had similar last Christmas when I was 5 month pregnant. It was awful so I really feel for you op! My GP prescribed antibiotics and also a steroid nasal spray called Dymista which is amazing stuff! I've used it a few times since when I've felt sinus pain and I haven't had an infection since!

I use an antihistamine tablet, like piriteze to take some of the swelling out of inflamed membranes - and maybe a Sinex spray.

Acupuncture worked for me

LaPufalina · 22/02/2019 07:07

Oh god I had it in summer when I was 30 weeks pregnant and have never known pain like it. My neighbour gave me sterimar which is a nasal spray and that eased it a bit. Steam inhalation helped a bit too and a heated pad pressed to my face.
Wasn't allowed anything else due to the pregnancy! But I remember feeling like my face was going to explode and how much sympathy people had if they'd had sinusitis themselves. Get well soon x

Thanks so much lovelies! I've been sleeping upright and using a saline spray to decongest my nose every hour. I was also recommended garlic tablets so have just stated then. The doctor thought it could be bacterial so I'm on a round of antibiotics too. The saline spray has definitely helped I'd say. Thank goodness! Still hurting, but not quite as badly.

I had the antibiotics also and they temporarily cleared it up but then it would return again, the only thing that kept it away was acupuncture
