Hey,
I had an early scan about a week and a half ago as I have had an mmc in the past and a little bleed with this one. I was 8+1 when the scan was done. Something that crossed my mind, the size says 3.9cm, is that the size of the baby? Might sound like a pointless question but really curious! Xxxx

At 8 weeks the foetus would be about 1.6cm

I think 3.9 is an average of a lot of different sizes taken not the size of the baby.

@kej13
Can I ask was that an abdominal scan or with the probe?
I’m due to have an early scan next week and will be 8 wks

It was vaginal :) I have a retroverted uterus so I always have them done that way as can't see anything otherwise!

I agree that must be a combination of a few measurements. My boy was 1.7 cm at 8 weeks. Congratulations x

I think it's to do with the ultrasound machine used rather than the measurements of the baby, especially as it has frequency and stuff next to it

Tobebythesea · 20/02/2019 22:25

Isn’t that the size of the sac?
