Hello! I am going to be induced at 37+5 due to OC and have been told that I will probably be in hospital for a few days.. Can anybody advise me on what I should pack in a hospital bag for myself?

Thanks!Thanks

Large dark towel
Flip flops if you have a shower
Maternity pads
Knickers
Lucozade
Shower gel/soap
PJ's
Face cream
Magazines

Flip flops for the shower!! It makes my skin crawl thinking of all the bacteria in there!!...I'm a nurse and have seen it all 😷😷

Headphones!
When I was in labour, I was really calm but could hear the woman in the next room shouting and screaming and it freaked me out a bit so I put my headphones on and listened to hypnobirthing music and it was so relaxing.

  • loads of big knickers! (Handy if you have heavy lochia)
  • maternity pads (boots and Tesco are the best ones)
  • comfy clothes
  • dressing gown
  • slippers and flip flops
  • toiletries
  • snacks and lucozade
  • books/games/iPad and chargers

Good luck :) xx

My god I wish I had packed ear plugs... I couldn’t sleep for three days and that was before I even started in labour, yes it can be a very long process!!!

I'm being induced tomorrow! 38+2 And have had previous induction from experience of my last one it took 2 days and it was hard and long boring until I got into proper labour my advice is magazines phone for entertainment cash for the cafe you won't want to stay on the ward all the time
Someone to talk to
Snacks you won't want the hospital stuff much
Any usual comforts for yourself

Dreamzcancometrue · 20/02/2019 22:04

Im 38 weeks and have a big luggage bag packed! Cause labour could start anytime from now.. Ugh im dreading it, ftm here.

Maybe another suggestion is pack some comfy pillows/cushion.
Remember bits for the baby as well!
Bring all your usual toiletries incase you fancy having a shower/bath.
I think pp have mentioned what you'll mainly need.

Mrsmummy90 · 20/02/2019 22:41

Agree with @Dreamzcancometrue about taking your own pillow. I took mine and it was so nice. Completely forgot!

FirstTimeMummy20 · 21/02/2019 05:27

I am a first time mum also @Dreamzcancometrue ! I am not entirely sure what to expect, other than pain😂

Thank you for your suggestions, think I will end up taking enough stuff that it will look like i'm moving thereHmm
