breast feeding advice needed my baby wants to bf constanlty from 9pm till 5am !!!!!any tips

hello girls
well title says most of it really
my lovely baby saskia who was only born last wednesday has been bf since birth
somenights she has good nights like night b4 last went to bed 12 woke at 330 for an hours feed then woke at 830
ah heaven!!
shes done this twice
but last night i had to feed her from 9pm till 5am !!!
if anyone has any tips id be grateful

How often is she feeding in the daytime?

Your dd might be too young for you to try out this advice (depends upon how established you've got with breastfeeding), but my dd wanted to feed all night too (and through the evening) and it turned out my milk supply was really low around then and she was just hungry. What sorted her out (and turned her into a much happier, sleepy baby) was if I expressed milk in the morning when there was more than she could drink and DP gave her it in a bottle at night (DP doing it minimized confusion for DD and gave him something useful to do). I think we tried this from about 5 weeks and it worked until she was five months and wanting to be weaned.

Somehow, in my case, supply in the evenings did not go up to meet demand (even though the midwives said it would) and if we hadn't done this, we'd have thought we had a colicky baby, she cried so hard when she was hungry.

About 8 days old I think they get a big old growth spurt, so she might be trying to increase your milk supply. Hang on in there, I expect this will take a couple of days and then even out so she might be a bit more willing to leave your poor nips alone by the weekend

So my best advice would be to drink plenty of fluids, eat nice nutritious food and take care of yourself. You're doing such a good job giving her everything she needs, you deserve a pat on the back (and the promise of a relaxing bath and an early night if there's someone else around!)

I agree that babies can just be really hungry. I found that if I had a really long bf session before I put my DD to bed... say bf from about 9pm-12pm then she would sleep for quite a few hours. Was ok to be just sat in front of tele with baby on my boob... don't envy you doing this all night though. It may also be that your DD just likes the sucking and finds it soothing. You could try a dummy, unless you are really anti them... I did try with my DD but she just spat them out... but then she found her thumb, and has been a thumb sucker ever since.

Keep going with the bf, it will get better! And yes, make sure you are drinking/eating enough too.
