Evening ladies.

Thrilled to be 6 weeks pregnant but had some hip pain today which I've not had for years! I had perthes disease as a child which was treated then and not had problems for around 15 years unless I really push myself physically.

I was wondering if any other ladies out there have experience of pregnancy and labour as a recovered perthes sufferer?

Hi,

I had perthes as a child, in both hips which was corrected by 2 years of plaster cast. I'm currently 34 + 4 with my first child and other than having SPD it's all going well. I have spoken to the midwife about my perthes and she didn't know what it was Hmm but my consultant and an anaesthetist have reassured me that I should not encounter any complications. I'll let you know if it affects my labour at all

Hey, not sure I'll be much help but I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant and also have Perthes... Mine wasn't very severe as a child but I've had problems on and off for last 6 years (I'm 35). It was confirmed I have mild OA changes at my last appointment last year. Since about week 6 of pregnancy about 30% of the time I'm really struggling to walk... I think it's mostly cos I've been so exhausted I haven't managed my usual exercise which usually really helps. Hoping as I get my energy back and move a bit more it will start to ease. Definitely mention it at your booking appointment even if it feels fine. My midwife has referred me straight to antenatal physio. Good luck!
