I'm currently 36+3 and over the last 2/3 days I keep getting a stabbing shooting pain from underneath my belly button right down into my pelvis? Is this likely due to the pressure of the baby? I've struggled with a sore pelvis from about 18 weeks but it was always an aching dull pain this is more like a stabbing sharp pain can just about walk today! Woke me from my sleep last night and was so painful trying to change positions in bed!

I have never had this although my daughter literally kicked the shit out of me as son as I have sat down. It's like she was trying to stand up inside of me and would get me every time in the groin and fanny.

I wonder if top If uterus is by belly button although I would expect by now it's higher?

I've had this on and off for the last few weeks (38 weeks now). Does it almost feel like a sharp tearing pain? The worst for me was once when rolling over in bed and it was excruciating. My midwife said it's just muscular and to take it easy. For me it comes and goes, not every day and doesn't usually last too long. I notice it most when walking.

@cindersrella your comment gave me a right little giggle standing up inside me lol!

@RosieEffect yeah that's exactly how it feels! It takes your breath away! I've always been feeling like a scratching pain down there too have you? Can't wait to have all this over with and baby here to cuddle!

babystripes yes I've had the scratching pain too. It's not very nice! I'm so ready for this baby to come out and to get my old body back!

I think this may be what they call the fanny daggers? Quite normal IME

I had scratching pain at what felt like my cervix towards end of pregnancy.
Baby was born with nuchal hand and VERY long sharp nails, so it's possible it was scratching.
But I've been told that the scratching sensation is the cervix stretching and thinning.

Also those shooting pains sound like round ligament pain.

I always thought these pains near the end of pregnancy were the baby engaging... either than or they are punching something they shouldn't be haha

Thank you for all the replies! I'm glad I'm not alone on this one! Lol it's just so frigging uncomfortable have my last growth scan on Thursday so gonna mention it to my consultant anyway and see what she says! I can't wait to be able to walk instead of waddle again lol

@babystripes I have been getting these stabbings for about 5/6 weeks or so I'm currently 39+4 and still getting them but worse than before. I mentioned it to the midwife and she suggested it was something to do with baby pushing his head into my pelvis and basically head butting me (me and this child will be having words when he arrives for the pain he has put me through with these headbutts 😂) x
