Hi all. Started experiencing palpitations yesterday. Called 111 and went to A&E and I've took the day sick today.
Drs told me it's normal and I need to take it easy. Well I still have them today, they were with me all night too.
Anyone else have this and what can be don't if anything to ease.
Thank you

Did they do an ECG in A&E?

Narlat · 19/02/2019 16:07

@voxnihili yes was perfectly normal

I had them all the time with my last pregnancy (2 years ago) just had to ride them out. Awful though. I used to think I couldn't breath so I would panic 🙈

Narlat · 19/02/2019 16:19

@flowersaremyfave it's an awful feeling. Yh I was panicking yesterday but today just going with it. Hopefully it goes but I'm ready for worst case scenario.
Stress does not help that's for sure.

Mine started just after my 20 weeks scan and lasted right through until She born 😩 hope I don't get them this time around. But tbf I've got a lonnnnng list of things I'd like to avoid this time around so somethings I'll have to comprise on lol

Hope they go away for you 🤞🏼

Narlat · 19/02/2019 16:34

@flowersaremyfave hope you have a better time around this time . This is my first and its a journey of discovery lol.

I only had palpitations when I had anaemia during this pregnancy...

Narlat · 19/02/2019 17:39

@physicskate had routine bloods in A and E last night all fine. I've stopped all caffeine now too but they still knocking on my chest. I've been reading and A lot of people get them. Apparently coughing stops them and holding your breath while trying to breath out. Although the later has not helped.
I've text my midwife now so we will see what she says.

Thank you 😊

How far along are you?

Babycakes1989 · 19/02/2019 18:07

Hi lovely. I am sure all is well, I’ve heard about this before. I have found myself breathing heavy recently, not to a point that I sound like darth vador but enough that sometimes I realise oh gosh that’s me breathing deeply! Also when laying down I can hear my pulse so loudly! All hormones and extra blood wizzing around apparently. Good luck xx

Narlat · 19/02/2019 18:24

@flowersaremyfave 9+3 you?

@Babycakes1989 it's reassuring to know that other experience similar. They never warn you about all of this lol

I'm not 100% sure as this wasn't planned 🙈 so wasn't tracking cycles or anything. If my memory's accurate then I'm 7weeks tomorrow. Hoping to get an early scan next week so will know then.

Narlat · 19/02/2019 19:15

@flowersaremyfave nice surprise 🤗

@Narlat yep! Was definitely a surprise 😳

Take a magnesium supplement 100% of recommended daily amount. Lack of it can cause palpitations and defficiencies are really common

Look up vasotonic manovers

cakesandphotos · 19/02/2019 20:12

Mine was after pregnancy but my thyroid went out of whack and my heart rate shot up. Maybe worth getting checked?

whatisheupto · 19/02/2019 22:36

I had them too. Definitely worsened with caffeine. Also i would advise taking vitamin supplements. I'm sure I read somewhere lack of B vitamins (especially B12 I think) can cause them. They seemed to really help for me. I know lack of potassium causes them too - so eat mushrooms! But, just to confuse things, I did work out one brand of vitamins were actually giving me palpitations!! I couldn't work out why... but worth bearing in mind.
