Breathlessness

32 weeks and been dealing with breathlessness for a while and diagnosed with anemia (now on medication), but today I literally cannot catch my breath at all! I'm wondering if I should be worried or if it's just a normal thing as baby gets bigger?

Trying to do stuff and have to keep sitting down to attempt to catch my breath!

When did you start your anemia medication OP? Can take a little while to feel the benefits- I never got on with iron tablets so used spatone & diet to increase my levels. Is it worth getting that checked again? That's the only thing that caused breathlessness for me.

As baby grows it puts pressure on your lungs that can cause breathlessness I also was told I'm anaemic! 36+3 now and it seems to have got easier as my bump as dropped lower!

Started about a week ago! Definitely haven't noticed any differences to be honest. Although I managed to go food shopping today so don't feel so bad about sitting down for the rest of the day!

Thanks for your help x

Maybe see if you can incorporate some iron rich foods into your diet to help. Vit c helps absorption so throw a tomato on with your steak etc. Also remember caffeine inhibits absorption so cut that out an hour either side of your meds.
Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs!
Hope you feel better soon, I remember having to take a break going up the stairs and it's miserable especially in a 3 storey house

It was between 3-4 weeks before the iron helped with my breathlessness so hang in there they should make a difference! Also I think when baby changes position it makes it worse/better.

It's definitely much worse in the earlier parts of the day, really struggling this morning! I feel like I've ran a marathon and in fact all I've done is move from my bed to the sofa! Will have to try and catch up on jobs this aft.

Have had breathlessness through the whole pregnancy too although I’m feeling a bit better now at 35 going into 36 weeks I have to say. Sleeping is awful I’m waking myself up with weird noises and feel as if I’m choking. Not had issue with iron levels or blood pressure etc so have put it down to baby growth and changes in body and hormones. Hoping I’m ok once baby is here if not will have to look into it further.

Just to say, you're not alone. My doctor diagnosed Anemia in me last week too as I've been struggling to breathe. Just walking round the house is making me out of breath.
Its reassuring to me knowing its a common issue xx
