Sweep at 38+6?

Hi ladies. 38+6 today with dd3. Huge and uncomfortable, can’t sleep at night and desperate to get her out. After watching me struggle to get on and off the examining bed last week, mw took pity on me and booked me in for a sweep today. Dd1 was born at 41w, dd2 came at 41+5 after a failed sweep attempt at 41 and another more successful one in the birth centre after contractions had already started. MW says it’s not really policy to have a sweep before 40w, but ok when it’s not your first. Been having lots of Braxton Hicks is eindeeing if things are heading in the right direction, but given first 2 were late, not holding my breath that this one will be ready to make an entrance any time soon. Any thoughts or experiences to share?

I’ll be interested to hear stories too! 37 weeks with my second. Midwife offered me a sweep at 38 but said they’re usually not very effective at 38. She’s booking me in for one at 39 weeks. I’m huge and uncomfortable now, can’t sleep. Bump is just solid and I feel
Like she’s constantly pushing on my bowel! Trying to embrace these last couple of weeks as I’ve started maternity but I’m getting nervous incase something goes wrong!

Just had it done - was surprisingly super easy for her to reach cervix and stretch to 1cm. She managed to touch baby’s head! So hopefully things might start happening now! 🤞

Also didn’t hurt at all, just mildly uncomfortable.
