Second trimester - the struggles

I’m very very happy to be pregnant with a much wanted and tried for baby but Jesus...

I’m now 24 weeks pregnant and struggling.

I’m so tired - more so than in my first trimester. I no longer have control of my mouth and dribble all the time Confused

My bump has well and truly popped out now and it’s tight and heavy. I’m struggling to sleep on my back which is my default position.

I have none of this mythical glow people talk about and apparently I’m supposed to enjoy this trimester the most Hmm

I didn’t have any sickness or symptoms during the first 12 weeks so this maybe pregnancy karma Grin

I’ve also developed a rash all over my face but the plus side is my hair is fucking fabulous, it’s thick and shiny and doesn’t get greasy as quickly!

Anyone else having 2nd trimester struggles?

I’m 24 weeks too and am starting to think the second trimester restbite is just a myth.

I’ve had a large bump for basically the whole of my pregnancy, even though it’s my first and there’s only one. I’m exhausted too, constantly dribbling or making random grunts! Which is not attractive. Furthermore, my foot arches have decided to start collapsing and if I wear supports for them my knees then play up.

I’m hoping I’ve plateaued and the third trimester will be a breeze! Think I’m dreaming.

Enjoy second trimester as much as possible third trimester is challenging 😂 I loved second trimester in comparison. Had way more energy and didn’t feel pregnant even though bump appeared. Think around 28 weeks it went downhill again. Every body is different though I guess! 35 weeks now and want baby out 😂 Be easy on yourself and do more things that make you happy / relaxed / feel good 💗

I’ve struggled all the way through !! 25 weeks now , constant exhaustion +weakness and generally feeling rubbish and now im feeling pretty heavy! My midwife said some people just have better pregnancy’s than others ? I’ve literally never had the second trimester burst 🤨

@snoopy18

I’s the third bit really that bad 😂😯 lots of people have said that to me

Diane0313 · 19/02/2019 10:35

I'm 21 weeks today hun and having a girl I'm always waking up during the night for toilet and back ach and feel tired a lot too your not on your own Grin

Tinekittie2 · 19/02/2019 10:50

I'm 27 weeks and most of the second trimester was a breeze apart from some tiredness the past few weeks and heartburn.

Since last Friday I've been feeling awful though. Can't sleep because of constant back pain, get awful acid reflux, low blood pressure from doing anything and just generally feel terribly uncomfortable :(

I don't know how I'll get through another 3 months of this if it's just going to get worse! :(

Good luck ladies! At least it's not too long until we meet our babies...

HowDidYouDo · 19/02/2019 12:14

I’ve found my people!! Apart from you @snoopy18 😂

Oh my god the reflux. How could I have forgot the horrid reflux!!

Its nice to know I’m not the only one who thinks the easy part is a pile of shite.

Now I’m off to dribble on some colleagues when I talk Grin

Hey, I feel your pain. I’m 28 weeks and finding running around after my toddler exhausting.

Just to say though it’s not recommended you sleep on your back at this stage anyway as it can be dangerous. Hopefully a pregnancy pillow will help you get more comfy!

Contraceptionismyfriend · 19/02/2019 22:26

I'm 20+4 with number 3. I fucking hate being pregnant

Gillian1980 · 19/02/2019 22:49

I feel your pain!

I’m 25 weeks, first trimester was awful and second has also been awful. I’m so happy to be pregnant but pregnancy doesn’t agree with me at all. My first pregnancy was terrible too.

I’m huge, still sick, incontinent, exhausted, starving all the time, spotty, frequent diarrhoea, swollen ankles..... etc etc etc ......

Really really looking forward to the baby being here!

Exhaustedmummy1811 · 19/02/2019 23:27

I had a herendous first trimester, thought it would never end lol I finally started to feel better at 20 weeks. And for 8 blissful weeks I felt amazing. I'm now 34 weeks and i am so over being pregnant. I have a very complicated pregnancy and my daughter is likely to be here in the next 2 weeks but on top of that the morning sickness has returned along with the extreme fatigue. Bump is so big and heavy I can barely move, leg cramps and toilet break have me up multiple times in the night. Baby's head is pressing up under my ribs which is agony and this week my body clearly thought I didn't have enough to deal with so I'm now trying to get over a dreadful cold. Still at least the end is In sight. Good luck with your pregnancies

Hugtheduggee · 19/02/2019 23:48

The hope of the 'second trimester glow' basically gets you through the first trimester. Then you get there and it mostly seems like a myth. But then you hit the third trimester, and the second in hindsight seems nice in comparison.

Tbf, there was about a month period in the second trimester when I felt vaguely human again. That was nice.

GemmeFatale · 20/02/2019 00:00

24 weeks here. I have piles. I have to clench if I sneeze to avoid wetting myself. I can barely breathe, I’m in pain and I’m oh so very tired.

This baby is very much loved and wanted (ivf so it’s taken literally years to get to this stage) but I will kick the next person who tells me about the second trimester glow.

Dreamzcancometrue · 20/02/2019 00:56

38 weeks and trust me 3rd trimester is just as bad as the 1st. IMO. In my first trimester I could hardly hold food down, nausea and lack of appetite. 2nd trimester was okayish. Now in 3rd trimester I have to sleep on either side which is incredibly uncomfy especially with my bump being so big at this point. I have stretch marks on each side of my hip that look like ive been kicked there a dozen times. Oh im so fed up of this pregnancy not to mention all the medication im having to take to prevent complications.

AuntMarch · 20/02/2019 04:40

21w 4d here.

Being just over half way, I can only assume I'm going to be too big to actually move by the end of this pregnancy.
My face and chest are spottier than they've ever been, even as a teenager.
My back has started aching.
Still getting waves if nausea out of nowhere. Also if I'm hungry, I suddenly need to EAT EVERYTHING IN THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW to stop feeling really sick.
I also really really want a nice cold refreshing lager Grin

But the worst is I'm shattered, yet have seen 3 am every morning night this past week.
Saturday night I had been out all day, after 4 hours sleep night before, dead on my feet! But lie down in bed and stared at the ceiling til 12. Then woke up at 3. Then finally give up at 5 due to hunger!

I've been awake now since 2.45, it's half 4. Considering a hot chocolate and a cry. Off work this week and already dreading Monday. Can't deal with forced interaction when I'm tired looking.

So I'm in your camp. This is miserable!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 20/02/2019 06:00

Hello all. I'm only 17+3 but I woke up for a wee at 4.30 and despite being absolutely knackered I keep tossing and turning.

I had an awful 1st tri so I'm currently just happy to be able to eat properly again.

This is DC2 but I can't remember how shit the last tri is and this thread has awakened some inkling of what I've got coming Sad

Still it'll all fade into insignificance when your babies arrive I promise!

Jackshouse · 20/02/2019 06:48

You need to get your iron levels checked and a pregnancy pillow but yes pregnancy is fucking hard.

sh13 · 20/02/2019 11:25

I can relate to everyone’s posts on here so much literally have the same issues as everyone 😂 😩 I thought it was just me !! So thankful for this thread , Let’s just hope it speeds up for all of us ! X

AuntMarch · 20/02/2019 11:46

Inside get about hour and a half from 7 o'clock! Today is my one empty day this week and I'm still in my pyjamas and loving it I have to say!

Nathansmommy1 · 20/02/2019 13:57

So I'm not the only person that has started dribbling and drooling Grin I was wondering what was happening to me! Also miserable in the second trimester here, I got relief from nausea from 16 to 19 weeks and then it returned. 23 weeks now and bump is huge and causing back pain. Can't believe there's still 4 months to go!
