Discharge at 5+2 weeks

I'm currently 5+2 weeks and for the last few days I have been getting brownish pink discharge on and off. Not large amounts just enough to soak a little into a panty liner. I've also had cramps.

The last two weeks have been tough, I've had really bad dizziness and been exhausted. The past few days my boobs have hurt and I've felt cold like I can't warm up, especially my hands and feet.

I'm really worried the discharge is a bad sign. Looking online suggests it might be normal or could be a miscarriage starting, I don't know what to do. Should I go to the dr? I've not even had my first midwife appointment yet.

Oh yes, this is my first pregnancy too. I'm 35.

I didn’t want to read and run, I know it’s scary and confusing. Unfortunately it’s hard to say! It could be normal, but there’s no way of knowing. I think at 5w it’s also too early to show on a scan? You could see how you feel over the next day or two and if you’re still worried see your gp, they could do bloods if nothing else?
Fingers crossed for you.

@pattyhoo

I would definitely go to the doctors and explain all symptoms. Im currently 30 weeks but when I was 6 weeks I had cramping, bleeding and went to the doctors and they sent me to the early pregnancy department at my local hospital and gave me a scan. No heart beat was found but a yolk sac was, they sent me away and booked another appointment for two weeks later. I went back and they found a heart beat.

So definitely go to the doctors, get an emergency appointment. Even if it's just spotting/implantation cramps which is normal it's better to get checked

Hope this helps and everything goes well for you xx

Hi @pattyhoo. Didn't want to read and run. I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I know it's really scary. I have had this three times at about that stage. Once it's been fine, and once it hasn't been and I had a MC shortly after. The third time is in this pregnancy and I'll find out when I have a scan on Thursday. I'll be 8 weeks then.

I'm so sorry, but it's extremely unlikely the doctor will be able to tell you anything or do anything at that gestation. They usually won't send you for a scan unless you're at least six weeks and you're in pain (in my experience) as it's just so unlikely that you'll see anything.

I know it's awful, but it's really likely that the GP would just tell you to wait and see. If your cramps get heavier or the spotting gets worse, then that's not a great sign.

I recently had my booking in appointment with the midwife and told her I'd had spotting. I was 7 weeks at the appointment and have had a previous MC and even then she wouldn't refer me for a scan so I've arranged to go private.

In terms of the dizziness, exhaustion, being cold and boobs hurting- totally normal pregnancy symptoms.

I really hope things work out for you, OP.

I had brown/pink discharge in the first trimester, usually in the 24 hours after having sex.
Baby was fine though.
Take the advice of PPs and monitor.

How are you today @pattyhoo?

pattyhoo · 19/02/2019 18:57

Thank you for all your replies, they have been useful to read and comforting. Discharge has stopped and started. Pinkish brown and not lots, just a stain really. The cramps also worry me. I am waiting to see what happens today, so far it's less than yesterday.

I am trying not to worry too much - at the moment I don't think there is much either I or a dr can do. Hoping to get through this week and then see about getting a scan at week 6. Thanks so much again everyone ❤️

Do you have an Early Pregnancy Unit at your hospital? At mine you just rock up and get seen in the order you arrive. I had a small amount of spotting but had the news today that we all dread.

Fingers crossed for you. Spotting can be a perfectly normal part of pregnancy for many.

@Pinkywoo do I remember you from the ttc over 35 thread? Smile
