Ectopic

Years ago I had an ectopic so every pregnancy I have to get scanned. My ectopic was over 10 years ago, I'm over 7 weeks, I've been getting sharp pains in my left side.

Considering pre-existing gynae stuff I thought it could be adhesions tearing. The pain is annoying right now, but not hitting the roof in pain, if that makes sense.

I've no shoulder tip pain, I had some weird bloody discharge yesterday that looked more like old blood, the pain has been getting worse.

I have my scan on Weds so hoping I can wait it out. I can't remember having pain like this, as we did fertility treatment and never got far. So not sure whether it's normal & nothing to be worried about.

I've had an ectopic before and in your situation I would be going straight away to get an ultrasound, but I'm not in the UK.
My previous ectopic never got far enough along to cause pain.
Are you sure you're only 7 weeks?

I think you should contact your local EPU and see if you can get scanned sooner just in case. It could well just be ligament/stretching pain but better safe than sorry.

Which side was your previous ectopic? If this pregnancy is also ectopic and it’s on the other side (i.e. in your remaining healty tube) then usual practice is to try and save that tube by doing a salpingostomy rather than salpingectomy - another reason it’s important to get it diagnosed asap before it ruptures.

I've let DH know as the pains so bad now it's hurting when I breathe / move / pretty much anything. It's a really severe stabbing pain on my left side.

We didn't think I could get pregnant as I had a HSG which said the other tube appeared blocked & dye wouldn't run through it for love nor money. The Gynae also said that it could just have been my bowel blocking images.

I was booked in for Wednesday anyway for my scan, so waiting for DH & presenting at A&E as that's what they've said to do.

I did the clearblue tests, by my last period I should be over 8 weeks, by the digital testing I'm about 7 1/2 weeks.

I'm feeling really gritty with it, I can't really remember much from last time, but I recall getting a bit of a bleed like last night.

Thanks for your help.

Glad you are getting checked out, hope it’s good news and your pain is gone asap.
