Hi. I have an appointment today with the midwife at 4 o'clock. I'm going today to see if baby has grown enough yet and if not I've to get steroid injections. Does this mean if I get them at 4pm today I will have to go back at 4am to get them? Or what happens? Or will they leave it until 2moro morning to do them? Very confused😂 x

Generally steroids are given as 2 doses 24 hours apart so you’d have to go back tomorrow afternoon

@MadameJosephine oh really? I am nearly sure my midwife told me 12 hours?x thanks anyways

I was admitted in preterm labour and given steroid injections 12 hours apart. I was being kept in to be monitored anyway but while I was there a lady came specifically for steroid injections at 8am, had her injection and kept in a day room then sent home after her 2nd at 8pm. If they want to do 4pm-4am I doubt they’d expect you to go back, they’d keep you overnight in a hospital but I think it’s more likely you’d be booked in for a different time. I know they can also give them 24 hours apart so you’d just go back the next day.

I stayed in hospital, and had them every 12 hours for 48 hours as I had gone into labour early
(And then she hung on to her original due date)

Our guidelines say ideally 24 hours but a minimum of 12 hours would be acceptable if time was limited. I suppose guidelines at your hospital could vary but RCOG info leaflet here says 24-48 hours
