Private scan put me back from 10 to 9 weeks, should I be worried?

Hello all, yesterday afternoon I went for a private scan and to my relief the sonographer said everything looks as it should and we saw a lovely flickering heartbeat. Smile

However I thought I was 10+1 weeks, she said she measured the baby more at 9+1 weeks - she did say the baby was curled up into a ball and harder to get a accurate measurement though. Looking at my scan it does look more like a 9 week old fetus compared to the ones off Google, that would mean I was only 3+1 weeks pregnant when I got a BFP though!

Should I be concerned or is this nothing to worry about? I have my dating scan on the 5th March so only 15 days to wait.

Any advice would be gratefully received! 💛

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I had my private scan at 8 weeks and she told me I was 6 weeks! I was really worried!! (And annoyed because I felt like I was going back in time!)

I didn’t tell my midwife, so I got a dating scan at 10 weeks, then had another at 12 weeks for measurements. My baby actually caught up and instead of being 2 weeks behind. I ended up being about 1 week! So I don’t think when they are that small they are 100% accurate!

I’m now 34 weeks and can’t wait to not be pregnant anymore!!!

No, I don't think they're totally accurate. When the baby is that small still a measurement of 1mm being wrong could make all the difference.

No it's normal for this to happen. I thought I was 7weeks when i was 5. All fine. Congrats

Mine put me back about 6 days then my 12 week scan with the nhs put me forward 3 days..
12 weeks is the most accurate time to get correct measurements and u will probably find they will alter it again

Ah fantastic, thank you everybody. Glad to hear that its nothing to worry about! Smile Really can't wait until my dating scan now.

Exactly @Wordie, it IS like going back in time!! I hope your last few weeks of pregnancy go quickly and smoothly!

I was reading the other day that the accuracy of the measurement is something like +/- 5 days (or maybe a bit more, I can't remember the exact number) so it's perfectly normal for it not to be spot on especially as yours was curled up.

Nothing to worry about at all. My early scan put me back from 9+6 to 7+3! Two subsequent scans have confirmed the due date I got at the early scan. Now 17+2 and all going well. Congrats OP! Flowers
