Hi All. I have had a UTI I just cannot shake. I love my doctor and she's very good and very thorough but I live overseas so it's not always easy to relate treatment here to what I see on Mumsnet, NHS etc.
I had a urinalysis Nov last year and got some pretty shocking results in terms of bacterial count and WBC. Was prescribed . Had a follow up test and infection decreased but still not gone. Had a culture and sensitivity test done on my urine and found no aerobic bacteria present - I cannot get a definitive answer as to whether they checked for anaerobic. Was then decided that bacteria etc must be a contaminant from vaginal secretions and not actually present in my urine if they wouldn't grow in a culture.
Just had my 24 week bloods, urine, glucose etc. All fine except my bacterial infection in the urine is now through the roof terrifyingly high. WBC also scary high and I have nitrites. I need to do another culture and will ask for aerobic and anaerobic this time.
Has anyone else struggled to shake off a persistent infection? Or have experience of cross-contamination from vaginal secretions? Any advice as to what antibiotics worked in the end if it was a UTI? Any info on what your bacteria was?
