?Late booking appointment

Hi all, first time mum to be, 8 weeks+1. Had early scan at 6+3 due to some bleeding early on but thankfully all well and we got to see little heartbeat flickering away. After that appt they directed me to desk to book my dating scan and booking in appointment . They initially had appts for me when I was 12+6 both on same day, but we’re on holiday that week, so both appointments were pushed back to when I’ll be 13+6. Have no problem with having dating scan that day, and obviously it’s our choice that we’re on holiday the week before, but the more I read the more I’m thinking about 13+6 is very late for booking appointment with midwife? Should I ask for an earlier date or will it be fine? I’m NI based. Thanks in advance for any advice x

I don't think timing of your booking appointment matters as such, it's the dating scan where timing is important, so if you have to wait for booking appointment to make the appointment for the dating scan that can be an issue, but doesn't sound like the case here. Booking appointment is almost wholly administrative where I am anyway.

I was a late booker for similar reasons. It’s been marked on my notes, but with an explanation and there’s been no mention since. It’ll be fine!

If you're generally a healthy person with no high risk history then a late booking app shouldn't affect much.
If your BMI is on the higher side it might be worth a call to them as higher dose folic acid may be prescribed, or if you have a history that you think might make you a higher risk pregnancy

Thanks that’s great. Nothing particularly high risk but I do have a high BMI so will maybe give them a ring just in case
