Slings

Looking for some advise on slings. We will be planning on using the sling for walking the dog (along side the buggy occasionally). We live in the New Forest and have horses so will be out and about in the sling a lot and my back is not the greatest. I was wondering what people recommend as the best sling to use from birth, I have heard Tula and Ergobaby are good?
TIA

Slings are like jeans I really didn't like the Tula or Ergo even though they are good slings. It's not a one size fits all. I'm also horsey and love the Integra and now baby is old enough she goes on my back while leading and mucking out or dog walking. If you can go to a sling library to try some once baby is born. Newborns prefer stretchy type slings, I used a caboo to start. I

I loooove woven wraps, they take a while to get the hang of but are very versatile and grow with the baby (I sometimes carry my 3.5 yr old niece in mine) ergo are good, I prefer softer structured wraps so Mei tai style ones are good for me. Have a look at Didymos, Bebe Sachi, lennylamb, hoppediz

I have the Hana and my baby loves it. He's refused- from birth- to go into the ergobaby 360. Go to your local sling library and hire the ones you like to see how you and baby get on with them. I must add, it took 3 months for my lo to get used to the Hana. It's been a gradual process but he's happy in it now.

Seconded. Otherwise it’s like buying your undies at m&s just because everyone else does Smile. They aren’t one size fits all.

Another recommendation to get yourself to a sling library if possible as a PP said it’s not a one size fits all. I thought I would prefer a stretchy type wrap carrier but I tried out a close caboo and did not get on with it. Felt like I was constantly hitching baby up and that I had to have my hand under the bottom which defeated the point. But I know they are the most recommended by NCT so plenty of people must like them. I ended up buying an ergo eventually and I must say I loved it but doesn’t mean it’s for everyone.

Definitely see what your baby will put up with as well as what fits you. My first loved the wrap sling when tiny, but second hated being upright, so would only go I a reclining position in a one shoulder sling. As they get heavier, one with a waist strap to distribute the load has been invaluable.

I'm a hana wrap lover too.
Still wear it with my 2year old and find it more comfortable on my back and support (long version not the short so can wrap a few times over my midriff) than her big walking backpack type carrier (also 9months pregnant and still love the support it gives when carrying her)
Super handy for dog walks, household chores and animal care, used to front face but went on my back at around 9months old.
