Hi all!

Just looking at possible/ likely outcomes if anyone has been through similar??

Have been tracking steadily along 80/90th centile with fundal height throughout. I'm 37 weeks today!!

Midwife misplotted my fundal height (she plotted as 31 but it was 34) few weeks ago and so I had a growth scan. Most recent fundal height (2 weeks from last) hadn't grown. Cue second growth scan about two weeks from the last which now puts me from 80th centile down to 40th (a growth of about 2-300 grams). Umbilical cord flow was noted as 'good'.

I now have a consultant appointment for Monday. I'm thinking they'll say wait and see what happens. Not expecting them to say 'induce today!!' But looking to see what they've said with anyone else.

Totally had similar
Fundal measuring 50% until my 36th? Weeks. Then dropped to below 10th had an emergency growth scan that day to show baby hadn't grown much but fluid and blood flow was good.
They insisted on a c sec asap (also breech) which I denied so they checked movement and flow multiple times a week with a growth scan in two weeks. All normal, except still small amount of growth. Spontaneous birth at 39+4 no issues weighing 6lb 2oz (I'm only small too) and stayed on her 9% growth curve
This pregnancy they haven't bothered with Fundal height so much and just went straight to regular growth scans which showed growing at 50th% until week 38, baby is head down so they wanted to induce at the end of the week. I laughed because it's the same story! Fluid is good, blood is good, movements are normal, now have an extra couple of scans to keep an eye on things and waiting for spontaneous labour again!

They like to induce small babies rather than waiting to see due to, as my consultant said, there is a higher risk of still borth in smaller babies. But obviously it's your decision at the end of the day 😊

Ah that's what my point was, I remembered! Scans and measurements are not accurate and are only estimates! I take them all with a pinch of salt these days.
My first was only estimated to weigh 4-5lbs!

So saw the consultant who wants to rescan in two weeks when I'll be 39 weeks. If there's continued reduced growth or no growth, they'll induce. If she stays on this new line of her graph, they'll leave her.

It's not so much a concern about her size (predicted 6 and a half lbs at 37 weeks), it's more that she was always measuring like a week ahead (ivf so we know dates) and now she's not... fundal height and growth scan give sorts the same picture.

So I guess I'm worrying (stupidly and slightly irrationally) about premature placenta failure as I've read it's slightly more common with ivf... I've been so chilled out for the last couple weeks and now feel like a bundle of nerves. Not sure how to get through the next couple of weeks!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I remember you from the TTC threads. It's great that they'll rescan in 2 weeks. In the meantime, try to relax. If there's any sign of a change in movements, don't hesitate to get checked out.

Echomama · 18/02/2019 15:34

Such good news that they aren't pressuring you into anything!
Like pp said, reduced movement or anything out of the ordinary just get checked out, other than that try not to worry! Enjoy the last weeks while you have them!
And if you do want to be induced before the scan, you can always ask! X
