I guess at my age I was expecting a lot lower, they're insisting it's fine but I'm so scared

1 in 500 is low risk.

I know it's worrying but to put it in perspective that's only a 0.2% chance of baby having DS, so a 99.8% chance of baby NOT having DS. Those are good odds!

Other people seem to get tens or even hundreds of thousands so to be told such a low number at this age has just totally thrown me. I'm going to be anxious for the rest of the pregnancy about this. Just so confusing how different my result is.

If you're going to be worrying the whole pregnancy, could you afford the harmony test? It might help put your mind at easeSmile

In your shoes I think I would get additional testing. 1 in 500 is not high risk but it would set my mind at rest. I had 1 in 200 odds for DC2, which took me surprise as it had been 1 in 25,000 for DC1 (two years earlier). I had an amnio, all was fine.

Can't afford more screening myself. My boyfriend is saying it's so low risk there's no point paying but he could afford it I can't

My DS had similar odds I didn't realise how high it was til I was pregnant with DD who's odds were in the 10s of thousands. Then when she was born the hospital wanted to extra tests on her for Down's syndrome.

My PAPP-A reading is marked as 0.29 MoM, NT as 1.49 MoM and HCG as 0.41 MoM these don't seem great either especially the PAPP-A

I got 1 in 267 for my DS test which is similar to what I got in in my last pregnancy. DD was born with no issues and notes both times said low risk so I never gave it a second thought. I'm starting to think I should be worried now???
