Did anyone's waters break early and if so what was it like?

I'm 32+2 weeks and when I woke this morning I felt a trickle in my underwear. It felt like wee but when I checked it definitely wasn't. When I checked in my pants there was a small wet patch with white discharge. Does this sound like normal discharge or waters leaking/breaking? Has anyone else experienced this?

My waters broke at 39+1 and it was unmistakable: a huge gush that soaked through my jeans and then a constant steady trickle after that.

Hopefully yours is just discharge but you should call your midwife or maternity triage number to get it checked.

My waters broke at 38wks. I thought I was wetting myself a lot and could fill a pad quickly. Put a pad on and call the midwife. They have tests to check. Good luck, I'm sure it's just discharge. X

Mine broke at 32 weeks and it was as huge a gush as it was first time at 39 weeks. You should call your midwife though and be checked just to be on the safe side

My waters went at 39+1 in the middle of the night. It wasn't the distinct gush that everyone describes. More like a slow trickle. It continued for about an hour - turned out it was my hind waters which had gone and the rest needed to be broken.

Take a wet pad in to be assessed.

Mine was between a trickle and a gush. A bit like doing a small wee. I was getting dressed and staryed to feel 'wee' coming out but I had not long been to the loo, a d didn't feel like I needed to. I put a big pad in my underwear and rang the midwife at hosp. Ended up going in to be checked and it was my waters. They said to me to smell what was in my pad because waters smell sweet and quite different to urine. They were right, it definitely had a distinct smell!

Mine went at 35 weeks and felt like I wet myself, went in for them to check and definitely waters but they were just leaking. I had to stay in and two days later they went properly with a full force gush and baby came 3 hours later but they had remained a small trickle until then. Get checked out soon due to risk of infection. Good luck! X

I felt a pop and there was a massive gush. Had to sit on the loo to save the floors! There was no mistaking mine.

Perty01234 · 15/02/2019 08:45

Mine were a trickle over about 5/6hours, I thought at first I was peeing myself but put a pad and it was my waters. They had a quite distinctive smell quite sweet really!
I’d put a pad in and monitor for a few hours... if still there contact the hospital

rightreckoner · 15/02/2019 08:50

Trickle. Woke up to a wet patch on the bed. It wasn’t dramatic but DD has to be delivered within two days. 35 weeks.

You need to contact your MW.

StuntCroissant · 15/02/2019 08:58

I felt an internal "POP" and when I stood up it gushed out. I was soaking a pad every 10 mins so there was no mistaking it.

25+6. Had spotting and watery pink discharge. Got checked, told I was fine and sent home at 10pm.

Woke up half asleep at 3am feeling wet. Wondered if I had pissed myself in my sleep. Briefly considered waters. Nearly thought I'd imagined it and went back to sleep but decided to get up and check. Suddenly warm pink liquid ran down my legs and I ran to the bathroom. Woke my husband and called my hospital and then an ambulance.

When I got to hospital it stopped for a bit so they did a test that came up positive. When I moved it was like Hollywood style gushing. Buckets and buckets of bright red watery blood, literally like throwing water around. I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not, soaked through five loads of hospital bedding and was still going.

From that moment on every time I moved it would gush.

Lizbiz89 · 15/02/2019 14:34

Thanks for the replies. Turns out it was only that gush so I think it was just discharge. Sometimes it's so hard to tell though! Thanks again!

Mine didn’t break early but they started as a trickle. We had black bedsheets at the time and when I got up there was watery ‘discharge’ with white flecks in it. Apparently it was my hind waters.

I didn’t go into labour for another 12 hours and when my waters fully went I was in the birthing pool and they popped.

WhiteWashGails · 15/02/2019 17:15

Mine went and it only seemed like slight wetness

My baby ended up infected and special care for a week.

Call triage and get them to swab you.

I found out it was water a week later - I should have followed my instincts x
