First Cold Sore

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and have just got my first ever cold sore. Info online seems to suggest it can be an issue; the NHS website etc. Should I contact a midwife? I'm consultant led so probably shouldn't contact them. The pharmacist was very relaxed about it and just gave me some zovirax but I'm still worried. Anyone been in this position before?

Ok so I just called my midwife team. They advised me to go to the gp to get an antiviral tomorrow. They said it was most dangerous if it happened right before you give birth, which shouldn't be for a while for me but as my first baby arrived at 29 weeks I'm nervous! Just thought I'd record this incase folk are looking online for info in future!

I have no idea about how dangerous it is during pregnancy but please make sure you don't kiss baby near the lips/eyes when they're born - the cold sore virus can be really dangerous for them.
