Weight gain during pregnancy, help!

Hi, how much weight did you gain by week 26? My DM has just commented that I've put weight on everywhere other than my face Hmm I didn't think I'd hardly put anything on other than on my belly. I've just looked at my notes and I have put on 2 stone since booking in visit. From my BMI it looks as if I'm still within the bracket but I'm wary I still have 14 (potentially 16) weeks left. Help!

Unfortunately people become ignorant when around pregnant women.
Not sure about the BMI thing but if your midwife isn't concerned then you shouldn't be either? You probably are all bump, your mum is just like my mum by the sounds of it. Try and let it run of your back by the end of your pregnancy you will have others commenting too and you will either ignore it or have some smart comments. Every pregnancy is different so try not to compare weight gain and concentrate on having a healthy pregnancy.

I'm 24 and a half weeks and I'm up 13lbs. Seem to be gaining much more in this trimester than the first!

MonkeyToucher · 13/02/2019 17:34

had my 36 week midwife appointment last week and had put on 1.5 stone since booking which she said was in the healthy range. There clearly are some guidelines (which I didn’t know!) so maybe ask your midwife if you’re worried you’re gaining a bit much?

I had put on just over a stone (16lb) but have only put on a few pound since and am now at 19lb. If MW isnt worried, i wouldnt be x

I'm only 10 weeks and I've put on 9lb. I recently lost weight with SW, I happily hit my target after months and then found out I was pregnant a week later.

I've had very low energy, nausea, light-headedness, and I'm ALWAYS hungry, so feel I'm fighting a loosing battle.

Its really getting me down, I'm just hoping that it levels out next trimester.

x

Try not to worry about it as you may find the weight balances itself out like you may not out on more weight etc. Every body is so different.

I’ve had comments ‘oh she looks pregnant now’ yeah dickhead I’m at 34 week there’s a human in there 🤦🏾‍♀️

Society 🤷🏾‍♀️

I put just under 5 Stone on in my second and third pregnancies and very little of it went on anywhere but bump, I had polyhydramnios both times so was mainly fluid but still my midwife was in disbelief when I told her how much I'd gained (as you couldn't tell from looking at me) so she weighed me to make sure and still wasn't concerned. I started pregnancy around 9 stone at 5ft6 and after birth the weight round my middle didn't stay more than 6 weeks. I know not everyone is the same but 2 stone at 26 weeks doesn't sound too much to me. I think the average gain is meant to be 2 and a half stone for the whole pregnancy but thats never happened to me and I have never been over weight outside pregnancy. Everyone is different, I'd try not to obsess too much over it though, whatever you gain, it doesn't mean you'll struggle to lose it. Xx

I put on a lot because eating stopped the nausea (which lasted through most of pregnancy for me). I lost it gradually afterwards, without dieting.
The research seems to be that it doesn’t really matter, other than that more weight gain can mean bigger and stronger babies, which is a good thing. I loved reading Emily Oster’s book Expecting Better for this sort of thing.

RiverMeadow · 13/02/2019 22:18

I'm 26 weeks and I've put on 11.6lbs. I really hope I don't put on much more!

bubblegumbottles · 14/02/2019 01:27

I've ended up losing weight and the MW is keeping an eye on it and I've got to weigh myself frequently. Everyone is totally different. My lovely friend gave birth this weekend and she had put on nearly 5 stone across the whole pregnancy but suffered no other symptoms at all and now had a gorgeous healthy 6lb baby boy :)
If your MW isn't concerned, I wouldn't be. :)

AngelaStorm73 · 14/02/2019 01:45

I've put on 2 stone and now it's plateaued. I was starving through the second trimester, but into the third I now don't have "space" to eat as much and have started nesting so am up all hours of the day and Night cleaning everything so now my weight has basically levelled out. I was worried about how quickly it went on in the second trimester, but as I said it's basically steadied out now so it's all going to the baby/bump. Even My face did get a bit fat briefly but now looks normal again

earlybirdhasanap · 15/02/2019 17:11

I'm 29 weeks and put on 6lbs so far since my start weight. Everyone gains differently and it depends on your start weight very much.

I was a 'curvy' woman to start with (a size 14-16) and so gaining a lot wasn't a good option for me. As long as your baby is healthy and growing well and you aren't putting your own health at risk I wouldn't worry.

Your body knows what it needs so don't get caught up on numbers :)

I gained 11 lb and am now 16 weeks. It's because of eating more due to nausea. I hate eating so much but there's nothing I can do so trying to just accept it. Midwife wasn't worried at all - I think it's not unusual.
I think it is improving now and am getting better at eating carrots/celery rather than crisps (sorry to those in the office having to listen to constant crunching!)

cowchickenduckdog · 17/02/2019 12:42

I'm 26 weeks and have also put on two stone. Not overly happy about that but at least I have boobs now lol I'll just have to make sure I lose it once baby is here! I'll worry about that then! I can find plenty of other stuff to worry about till then lol xxx

jcq17 · 17/02/2019 19:59
