Hcg levels, singles and multiples

Hello!
I'm pregnant and hopefully expecting our rainbow 🌈

I had an ectopic a while ago at 5 weeks and my hcg levels only rose to 736. I have my hcg rested regularly due to the ectopic and reoccurring miscarriages (hcg up to 8 weeks never got over 1000)

I'm currently around 4w 1d and whilst my scan yesterday only showed a spec Smile in the right place my hcg appears to be nearly 2000.

Am I confusing myself or is this actually quite high? Could it mean a nice strong Singleton or could it indicate a multiple pregnancy?

Any advice or shared stories would be great, trying to not get over excited right now that there is something growing!

Hi congratulations on pregnancy.
My hgc was 4300 at 4 weeks 5days and then doubled to 10,000 when tested the next day. I only had the one baby. X

Sorry to hear of your struggles.
I too had a (suspected but wasn’t ectopic) pregnancy where my HCG level only rose to 1800 at 7 weeks pregnant. There was a sac but nothing else. Probably what they call a blighted ovum.
After that I had my HCG levels checked in my next pregnancy and at 5 weeks from my LMP (2 + 5 weeks from ovulation) my levels were 2739. 2 days later they were 5407.
It’s all about them doubling in a 48 hour period but for the first test that sounds like a good number.
My son is 5 weeks old now 😁
There is truth to it that higher numbers mean multiples but I’m not sure just how high they can get for that to be the case.
I wish you all the best.

I don’t think there is a correlation.
My sister had a twin pregnancy after an ectopic, and her hcg levels were only 108 at 4+3.

Thank you, I'm just so hopeful there is or
Might be an actual baby this time

Mine is an IVF pregnancy and, 7 days post double embryo transfer, my beta hCG was 99. At 13 days post transfer they were expecting them to be around 800 but we’re actually 2,445 and 2 days later at 15 days post transfer had risen to 5,344. I am now 6+6 and having viability scan later today - ivf clinic and GP surgery hace said that, with levels so high, I should expect it to be a multiple pregnancy!!

Good luck @Rememberallball that's really interesting.

Today’s scan confirmed what all the blood tests suspected and we are expecting twins!!

curiousandterrified · 14/02/2019 12:19

How exciting! Congratulations

And my results are in 5500!

They have rang and brought my scan forward to today now rather than in a weeks time.

I'm a bit scared actually with all our history!

How did the scan today go, @curiousandterrified? Hope all went well xx

I had my hcg level checked last week due to some spotting & at 5 weeks 4 days it was just over 22000 & I freaked out because it was so high & read it was a possibility of twins but I had a scan yesterday and just the one in there measuring spot on.

Jackshouse · 21/02/2019 16:29

Congratulations. I definitely noticed the difference in symptoms with my twin pregnancy but like many early twin scan I had disappearing twin syndrome and by 10 weeks twin 2 heart beat had gone and by 12 weeks there was only a tiny sac left of twin 2.

curiousandterrified · 21/02/2019 18:03

We've just got one in there, and today saw a heartbeat at 5w 5d, go back in 2 weeks Smile
