Maternity gym wear

Does anyone have recommendations for maternity gym stuff? I’m keen not to spend a fortune as I’ll only be in it for a few months but I’m quite sporty and love a bit of stash, so it would be great to have some nice things that feel like me, and not feel too frumpy in baggy T-shirt’s etc.

Also - maternity wear in general - do I just buy in my normal size? Or is it a bit of trial and error?

Try out Gap, but wait for an offer (they seem to run online offers constantly so just sign up with your email address and wait a day or two!). You can often get 40% off. I bought a great pair of under bump leggings and wore them loads as they were so comfy.

As for other maternity wear, just buy your normal size, but I'd caution you not to go mad... It turned out that I could still fit into some of my looser fitting clothes even when I was overdue!

GapFit is what you're aiming for. And these are my favourite leggings (even now, 4 months after giving birth!): www.gap.co.uk/gap/maternity-pure-body-low-rise-capri-leggings/000734516.html?dwvar_000734516_fit=regular&dwvar_000734516_color=000734516001&dwvar_000734516_size=1528&cgid=1062345#start=1

I bought a couple of tops and a pair of capri bottoms from Fitta Mama - they were on the pricier side but good quality and have washed well. They lasted up to 9 months of my pregnancy (pregnancy yoga rather than the gym by that point for me!), and importantly were proper sports material rather than cotton.

I second gap! The trousers are fab.

Even though they were on sale they were still quite expensive but worth it IMO.

Oooh I love GapFit, their tops are always so soft! I had no idea they did a maternity version. Will check it out now.

I’m almost 11 weeks and still training lots, everything still fits, (except I have a tummy bulge) and I expect lots will just stretch too but I’ll keep an eye out for the gap emails. It’ll be nice to have some things when I have a proper bump.

I am 22 weeks and have bought a pair of Fitta Mama leggings and a pair of Lidl maternity sport leggings. The Fitta Mama ones are great and actually stay up when I’m running. I’ve been wearing them from about 15 weeks and they’re super stretchy so think I will get some wear out of them. I was a bit apprehensive as they’re expensive but have been worth it so far. The Lidl ones aren’t so good as they fall down really easily. For tops I think I will just wear big T-shirt’s, I can’t be bothered with the expense of a full maternity wardrobe for a few hours a week. My normal gym shirts have been fine so far.

My mum got some normal leggings and sport leggings from lidl, both work for the gym, although atm my normal gym leggings fit too as they were previously a little bit big. I've always worn normal t shirts at the gym so wearing a mix of maternity t shirts and baggy normal ones.

I've been fitting into a smaller size than normal but I think that's just because the brands I've bought from have very generous sizing and/or are stretchy- my mum got me jojo maman baby jeans in a 12-14 and I had to swap to 8-10.

H&M has a few bits online.

I just wore normal gym clothes up to 42 weeks with my last pregnancy but this time I’ve grown out of everything by 24 weeks including sports bras. I think it’s going to get expensive.
