Self Referral

So apparently you can’t arrange your booking appointment through your GP anymore?
I filled in a self referral form for my local hospital almost 3 weeks ago, now I’m 6+4 and I haven’t heard anything back! How long do I have to wait for an email back?
I just want to know what’s going on, has anybody else self-referred? How long did it take to get a response?

I self referred and got an appointment through the post after a week. Maybe call the unit go check?

How many weeks were you when you got the letter?

I'd call, I did this and when I called they hadn't got anything. Good job I checked!

I called and was told I'd get an appointment letter within 7-10 days. I think last time my booking in appointment was at about 8 or 9 weeks, and then I got the letter for the 12 week scan following that.

In our area booking appointments are between 8 and 10 weeks.

I’ve self referred for all three pregnancies (it’s not a blanket rule across all of the NHS that you have to, my GP surgery still does referrals, I just liked being in control and knowing it had gone!). I’ve had a response after approx. a week all three times with the date of my booking in appointment (two different hospitals/NHS trusts). I would certainly give them a call, but as you’re 6 weeks it’s still relatively early and many people would only be referring at 5-6 weeks pg so I imagine you’ll still be able to easily get a booking in appointment for 8-10 weeks.

I think I got my appointment this time around at about 6 weeks (having self referred at 5 weeks), to book in at 8+1, but I think that’s the earliest I’ve had a booking in. Last two were around 9-10 weeks pg.

I booked an appointment with my GP because I didn't understand how self-referral worked. She gave me the midwife's number and I had to call them and leave a message. I called around 7 weeks, left a message and they rang me back in 3 days. My booking appointment was at 11+3 though I knew I was actually 12+1 based on a private scan. I was a bit worried about getting my 12 week scan in time to have the NT test but the mw appointment was on a Friday and I got my scan letter by the next Wednesday, for a scan the following Monday, so only 10 days later.
