Hi I've been getting faint positive first response and answer tests. Some really really faint tests on cheapies barely visible. I have PCOS and haven't had a period in seven months. So not sure when period is due. I decided to try clear and simple digital and said not pregnant. However and I know I'm not suppose to I took it apart and saw a faint line? I'll invert pictures of my positive pregnancy tests and the clear and simple one. Please be nice. Just frustrated xx

I can see a faint line, am I mistaken though in thinking PCOS can make you give false positives or am I completely wrong there?

Are you trying for a baby?

CountessVonBoobs · 11/02/2019 17:17

There is always a second line inside digitals - taking them apart is utterly pointless. They're read in a completely different way to non-digital tests and the only way to read the results is from the screen.

However, I can see the second line on your FRERs, which indicates you are indeed pregnant. Congrats. FRERs are highly sensitive and the line isn't very dark, so a digital, which is less sensitive, probably just isn't picking it up yet.

And PCOS doesn't cause false positives. The only way there can be HCG in your system is a) you are pregnant (overwhelmingly the most likely), b) you were given an injection of HCG as part of an IVF cycle, c) you have a very rare type of tumour.

tilly98 · 11/02/2019 17:26

Yes we are trying for a baby!
I know taking it apart was ridiculous but just becoming so impatient with it. My first response tests have been like this for two days. Aren't they suppose to double quick? Cheapies aren't even showing a faint line. I haven't had the injection and god I hope it isn't some rare tumour xx

All you can do is hang in there and wait and see, I'm afraid. Give it at least two days before you test again. Fingers crossed!

Thank you! I'll try me best and hold of for as long as I can xx

I didn't think u could get pregnant if u haven't had a period in 7month. Does that not mean ur not ovulating?

Jaxtellerswife · 11/02/2019 17:56

Yes you can ovulate and not be having periods.
Good luck op, I'd be cautiously optimistic about those frer tests. 🤞🏻

tilly98 · 11/02/2019 18:00

Yeah you can still get pregnant. I am being but I've brought about six different boxes from different places and started with barley visible and now it's that. So it's getting moving somewhere. But nothing on a cheapie. Just strange

This was one of my second ones I took about 2 weeks ago. I thought it should have been stronger by now x

All depends on the sensitivity of the tests - and there can be a huge difference between brands. FRER are generally the most sensitive and CB digital much less so. You need to check how sensitive the cheapies are as they might not be very sensitive ones

tilly98 · 11/02/2019 19:23

I found first response and the brand answer exactly the same just different price. I think the cheapies are less sensitive. I just want to see some improvement on my tests it's driving me mad. Xx
