Hi! I was at my 34 appointment today and I got a growth scan done. The baby hasn't grown much from the last time I was there. They are going to b giving my steroid injections and if that doesn't work induce me at 37 weeks. Anyone else experienced this. And any advice use can give to me?? I'm really nervous.

I had this, they refused to scan for another two weeks and wanted to give me a c sec ASAP.
I refused until they scanned me again, so two weeks later after steroids for her lungs she had grown only a tiny amount but was still very active, my gut instinct was she was doing just fine. Dropped from 50th% to 9th%, she was also breech so we had another battle with getting an ecv done.
I think the doctors only estimated her to weigh 4-5lbs, after insisting to see if I went into spontaneous labour and that we would discuss things after 40 weeks and in the meantime be monitored really often, babe made an appearance naturally with no real issues at 39+4 weighing a whopping 6lbs 2oz. She's now two and has stayed on her 9th percentile curve for her weight ever since.
I don't think the steroid injections are to make baby grow at all. It's mostly to give a boost and encourage the development of the lungs so that when babe is born early hy intervention, they are more likely to be independently breathing /have less respiratory issues.
Personally, I'd say follow your gut instinct, and don't be shy to ask for second opinions on anything!

HI, I'm following with interest, I went for routine growth scan yesterday to find my baby's growth velocity had once again reduced, I'm 34 weeks also.

They also mentioned a further growth scan in 2-weeks and if growth even slightly reduce then I too will have to have a steroid injection and then most likely be induced or have a section between 36 and 37 weeks. My consultant advised, lots of rest, reduce stress (although hard when they tell you your baby is not growing correctly) think about finishing work soon - within next 3 weeks, eat as well as possible.

Good luck

Wait and see what the next scan shows. Growth scans are notoriously wrong. The steroids are to prepare baby’s lungs for early delivery. Can you talk to your midwife? Ask questions and make sure you get clear answers that you understand

@mumm321 thanks, it's so stressful I'm now thinking about movements, analysing every little thing, according to the measurements he is about 2.25kgs which is about 4lbs 9oz I think.

Ill be honest I just want the next 2 weeks over and want him here now, the whole thing is stressing me out.

Fingers crossed everything will be ok for both of us x

I had exactly this. When I went back for the next scan a week later he had grown enough that they were happy for me to stay pregnant. I had weekly scans, and was monitored 3 times a week (I also had blood pressure issues) His growth was slow but steady.
I was induced on my due date.
He was a perfectly respectable 6lb4. He’s nearly 3 now and huge!
