Hi all

I am expecting my first baby at the start of June and I am wondering what clothing I will need for our newborn. What's best at this time of year? Long sleeve bodysuits? Short sleeve? Leg length?

It would be great to get a rough idea of what to buy.

Thank you in advance :)

Hi Laura

I’m also expecting a baby at the beginning of June. Honestly haven’t a clue what I will need either - my mother has been buying anything she can get her mitts onto though Grin. She’s got lots of long and short sleeve vests and loads of babygros with mitts attached. Considering we’ve decided to not find out what we’re having she’s found every neutral item within a 20 mile radius!

I’m just jumping on for some ideas. (Hope you don’t mind!)

Hi laural87,

I am due beginning of June also and my son was born end of May. It is quite mild, but we bought him home in a full outfit, so babygro hat and blanket as they struggle to regulate their temperature.
The weeks after we bought him home, it really got hot! We had a gro egg thermometer which was a life saver, i highly recommend one! Our bedroom was 28 degrees some nights even with windows open so he slept in a vest and thin blanket and seemed to be ok. The advice I was given was that they should have an extra layer to us. During some days he would have just a nappy with a muslin as it was sweltering!! Gro bags are fab and i recommend them also.

I found the info on the Lullaby trusts website really helpful!

It is a tricky one. The rule I was told was 'If they are cold they will let you know, if they are too hot they wont'. There is also great info on the gro company's website and it advises you what they should wear in what temperature.

I had such anxiety with what to dress him in so I know how you feel. Got to do it all again with another summer baby! Good luck!!

Hi and congratulations on your pregnancy. I had my first baby June last year 😁

It was very warm (heatwave) so I was really worried about temperature control.
A few essentials:

A room thermometer, the gro egg 2 was fab.
Gro bags in different togs.
Lots of vests and baby grows.
Swaddle cloths.
