Just had a call back from MW to say that I was positive for gestational diabetes.

I've now started to panic and the stories of having to be induced/having a c section are now going through my head!

If anyone else has had GD, how did the rest of your pregnancy go?

I haven’t had the baby yet so can only give you my experience so far! Was diagnosed at 28 weeks. I’m now 37 and as I’m still diet controlled and scans are showing normal growth I won’t be induced unless I go overdue. I think the guidelines say 40+6 but my hospital are happy to let me see how I go. So it doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t have the birth you want!

I knew from 20 w that I would have to have a premature c section for the baby to survive (vasa praevia) so the GD wasn’t relevant.
The diet wasn’t so different from what I was eating, although I had just bought a huge multipack of wotsits that I had to ration out.
After the birth I weighed to the gram what I had weighed before so I’ve lost tonnes of weight breastfeeding, a stone so far although I was a healthy weight to start with. I know two other people who had GD, both healthy weights, and the same was true for them.
If you must eat chocolate, then with nuts! I never had a bad reading after that.
