Weird back pain - nearly 26 weeks

Nearly 26 weeks pregnant with my second baby. Yesterday afternoon, I've started having horrible shooting pains/cramps throughout the lower half of my back, and just generally in a lot of discomfort. Had a bath and went to bed early yesterday, also had a hot water bottle. Was okay initially when I woke up this morning, but it's starting again and very uncomfortable.

I had back pain with my first but that was more pressure on a nerve. This is different, this feels more inside, don't know how to explain it.

If it carries on, I'll give the GP a ring in a bit but in the meantime, just wondering if anyone has experienced this before?

Movement in joint between the back of your pelvis and your spine maybe? The sacro-illiac joint caused me issues during my pregnancies and would sometimes cause shooting type pains if I moved in certain positions.
Or maybe a kidney infection? I've had similar pains when I've had one before.
Definitely worth getting in touch with the midwife though if it continues to rule out anything untoward.

I had similar when my baby was turning to head down. A very strange sensation in my back and an all over weird feeling!!
Call the midwife, better to be safe
