Misdiagnosed miscarriage??

Hi all,

I posted before about a threatened miscarriage. At 4 weeks I was told due to light bleeding I was having a threatened miscarriage which was more than likely a miscarriage. I was told to test again in a few days and go from that result. No blood tests, no scans. I tested and got a negative so I went about my normal day to day life. fast forward to next cycle, and a positive pregnancy test again!! No period in between, no bleeding at all since the couple of days of light bleeding at 4 weeks. Does anyone think it is worth pushing for an early scan to see if the pregnancy was in fact viable in the first instance? My test seems to be a lot lighter than the first ones I did, but I’ve heard of the hook effect after 6 ish weeks of pregnancy which would make sense, I would be 8+3 today. This is and would be my first pregnancy so I’m not too sure how everything works right now X

I would push. It does sound like there wasn't a miscarriage and you are 8 weeks pregnant. The bleeding could have been implantation bleeding.

In my experience this could be a new pregnancy - the bleed you had was a period. Did you DTD in the new cycle? Could you do a Clearblue with weeks indicator (although they're not hugely reliable)?

Thank you for your responses. I suffer with ridiculously heavy periods and the bleeding I had wasn’t anywhere near a period bleed. It was slightly more than spotting. This is the only reason I’m cautious it may not have been a miscarriage. I’ve thought about a clear blue digital but as they’re not completely reliable I’m not keen on doing one. I have an appointment Friday with my GP so I’m going to try and stay away from tests until then I think. We did DTD around time ovulation would have been (from what I could work out) so a new pregnancy would also be possible. As I said it’s my first pregnancy so everything is completely new to me
