Having somewhat painful contractions/tightnings ... if I get up they kinda stop but the heavy feeling increases. If I sit back down they immediately start again.

Really bad period type pain with tightness .. back hurts too.

Iv been having Braxton Hicks for weeks and these do feel more intense and do form a regular pattern... but slow if I move about... it's very confusing

Time the contractions. I think you're in labour. Good luck Thanks

Stardustinmyeyes · 10/02/2019 00:00

I reckon fox is right, time them

kmreeve · 10/02/2019 00:10

I have been timing, they are every 4-5 mins... but if I get up I can't feel the tightness, just the heavy ness.

I'm sat upright on the bed now with tens machine on.... they are manageable and But not yet convinced this is it?

How far is it to the hospital if your delivery will be there?

kmreeve · 10/02/2019 00:17

It's 40 mins away...

I'll give it another 20 mins or so then I'll call labour ward and see what they say. I had a csection with my first and induced with my second , so this part is brand new to me!

UPDATE:

Spent all night with contractions, but they got further apart and by 4 am I managed to get some sleep for an hour. Awake again now as I keep needing too poo. Iv been about 6 times!

Contractions are still there, bearable- I'm tired more than anything and feel a bit sore.

Not really sure what to do....

I'm sure pooing ) especially that much!) Is a good sign. I think it's the body's way of having a clear out before birth, plus the contractions could be putting pressure on the bowels. All sounds positive!

Have you rung the labour ward?

OhTheRoses · 10/02/2019 06:50

Ring the hospital for advice. I think it's normal for the bowels to clear before the onset of labour.

OhTheRoses · 10/02/2019 06:53

Do you know your baby's position. I was up for about 4-5 hours at nearly 38 weeks with dd with contractions every five minutes and feeling v uncomfy. Must have dosed off and woke a few hours later and everything had stopped. It was just her somersaulting from breech to cephalic presentation. My ecs was cancelled two days later.

kmreeve · 10/02/2019 07:23

Baby is engaged and in the correct position ( I had a presentation scan the other day as midwife couldn't feel the head - it was just soo low)

Iv not ring yet - I'm sure they're advice will be to just wait at home till it's 3 in 10 etc etc have a bath...

They are at about 8-10 min mark at the moment ... if we get closer to the 4 min mark I'll call and say I'm headed in, if anything just to be checked to see if anything is bloody happening down there!!
