Currently 30 weeks pregnant been cycling since early weeks of pregnancy. Sometimes it can be a bit tiring especially being a waitress so on my feet all day so then biking it home ( sometimes in terrible) weathers. I feel much better biking it then walking it as she's quite low so feeling the pressure bqdly. What's your opinion of biking whilst pregnant?

I biked til 8 months with a 3 year old in a toddler seat on the back. It was honestly just easier than walking long distances. I was SLOW at the end, especially up slopes and small hills (overtaken by pedestrians), and getting my leg over the crossbar (man's bike) was a challenge at the end, but I think if you are steady and not doing dangerous routes then keep going as long as you can. Good exercise!

I cycled to work until I was about seven and a half months pregnant. I stopped because my bump was getting so big that my legs kept bashing it (even though I'd borrowed a bike with a very low crossbar) and I was getting really tired cycling six miles each way to work. Keep going as long as you can - midwife told me it's also helpful for encouraging baby into the right position for birth.

I never stopped riding. Lucked out. The first MW I had (2 pregnancies) was a keen cyclist herself.

Love this thread! I cycled to work before getting pregnant but was encouraged to give up and now really regret it. To be fair I'm in a really cycle unfriendly foreign city and they discourage all exercise in the first trimester but as Spring arrives I know I'm going to miss it. Those who've done this before how quick did you get back on your bike post birth?

The whole of the Netherlands and China cycle when pregnant. It's one of the safest forms of exercise when pregnant. Cycle away!

I made it to 28 weeks cycling 4 miles each way to work but was too uncomfortable to carry on after that (I had a huge bump!). It really helped keeping active and I switched to walking and swimming after that which I did right up until the end.
