Peppermint London - anyone ordered from here and actually received?

Hi I have ordered a buggy from peppermint back in Nov, paid a deposit and buggy was due to be delivered end of Jan after full balance was paid - problem is I cannot get through through phone or email to pay off the balance (have been trying for two weeks now) and I have contacted all social media outlets - I am a bit worried if they still open and tradings as on social media there has been no recent posts? No one is answering the phone and I cannot leave a message because the inbox is full!! Doesn't sound good does it?? Baby due in a couple of weeks!!

Oh no! That doesn't sound great, are they still being active on social media? We ordered our stuff from peppermint (but that was three years ago) and they kept it in storage for us until I was 38 weeks, which was a great service.
Really hope you get through to them and get some answers soon.

BillyAndTheSillies · 08/02/2019 16:05

Sorry, I've just read your post properly and seen they've not been active on social media.
Hopefully someone will be along soon with suggestions of how else to get in touch.

I’m sure that I walked past their physical store (Northcote road) last week and it was still open. Have you tried calling there rather than their online customer services?

1Wanda1 · 08/02/2019 16:29

My SIL ordered an Egg pram from Northcote Rd Peppermint in September and still hadn't got the carrycot part by the time her baby was born in Nov. They kept fobbing her off with "it'll be here next week" and it never was. In the end her DH went in there a week after baby arrived, kicked up a fuss, and they did get it. I think BIL got the impression they had cashflow problems.

Bakingabean · 08/02/2019 16:35

Did you order it at a baby show by any chance? My friends are in the same position and theirs hasn't arrived yet. Friend went into the shop and asked in person and apparently the October and November orders from shows didn't go through. Everything is on order from Germany at the moment (so the guy said). Friend also said the guy in the shop could give zero shits about the issues this was causing...

Ftumch · 08/02/2019 16:37

I did 10 years ago, I think they were in Kingston then? They were fine, got a really good deal on a bugaboo chameleon and all the extras.
There are a LOT of bad reviews on Google now though Shock

fullofquestion · 08/02/2019 17:57

@Raaaaaah the number for the store is the same as the number for the customer services it's just different options - I've tried all 5 extensions and no one answers on any!?

@Ftumch I thought there was a store in Kingston (which is our nearest town) but it seems now there's just the two up in London!

At least I haven't paid the full amount just a deposit (but still a few hundred!!)

I ordered through the website however it was part of the baby show deals! Wish I had read the reviews first but I honestly thought they were a reputable company having thought there was a store locally!!

Northcote Road is hardly far from Kingston though, and it's the right side, so you could still go into the store if that's the closest one. It's not like you're not in the London area.

We've lived in the Kingston area for 6 years and I've not heard of them here. I do know Clapham has lots of baby shops though as I've been there to pick up bits a few times on the way home from work.

fullofquestion · 08/02/2019 19:01

@cardboard33 no I guess it's not but at 38
Weeks pregnant really the last thing I want to be doing is getting a train into Wandsworth to chase an order that should be quite easy to deal with over the phone and I doubt me going into store is going to make a huge difference apart from possibly parting with the rest of the money and then still not receiving my order on time!!

MADASANOWL · 09/02/2019 12:01

We ordered ours from them at the Olympia show last year and when it was a couple of weeks late I emailed them to find out why.
They replied within the week and we received the pushchair a few weeks later.
The email address I used was [email protected]

cardboard33 · 09/02/2019 12:34

@fullofquestion not ideal, no, but if you feel that you've exhausted all other contact options then this might be your best bet. Is there anyone else that could go on your behalf if you don't feel up to it? Although I've found in recent weeks that an obviously pregnant lady in person can make all the difference! (I'm 35 weeks)

The best station would be Clapham Junction btw, assuming there's not another Northcote Road full of baby shops that I don't know about in Wandsworth.

I definitely wouldn't part with any more money at this stage given the issues you've had with them. Did you pay for it on a credit card? If so you'll be able to claim it back from the credit card company, assuming it was over a certain amount. That doesn't help you with the buggy situation but it will mean you'll get your money back.

fullofquestion · 09/02/2019 14:58

Thanks for the replies everyone - tried to call the stores again today and still no reply, I have spoken to another local store who has matched the deal, spoken to the supplier and arranged delivery for Thursday/Friday of this week which I can collect (and it's much nearer), as soon as I mentioned being let down (didn't say who) she could name the company and said they had had quite a few people with the same issues! I have paid a minimal deposit and will pay the rest on collection.

I also spoke to the bank and they have opened a case to claim back the deposit and said that the money will be returned to my account within 1 working day from them so I won't actually be out of pocket either which is great!

Feeling a lot more relieved, I was awake until 3 last night worrying about it all!

I think 2 weeks is more than a fair enough time to get a reply especially since it was due to be delivered last week at the latest and like I said I've given them every chance and channel to contact me. Like I said I could go to the shop but it's not easy, I would also only be happy to pay the rest if they physically handed me the buggy there and then and unless they have it in stock it would be a wasted journey (and I wouldn't know since I couldn't contact the shop) and at best if they did have it i would then have to bring it back on public transport too!

Glad you've been able to sort things out and sounds like you'll get your buggy and your money back in the next few weeks.

It is very odd though that they're allowed to be at a national baby show flogging their wears if they clearly have so many issues with their supply chain/customer service etc. Could also be worth reporting back to the event where you got it from (as I think there's another coming up) just to be like FYI this is what happened to me, see the Google reviews for the company... Are you sure you want to attach your brand to them?

MonkeyToucher · 11/02/2019 09:39

Glad you got it sorted!

Just for anyone else reading - I ordered from their website about 2 weeks ago (a buggy board) and it was dispatched the next day and delivered by DPD the day after that! No idea what went wrong with your order but they were great for me!

fullofquestion · 11/02/2019 12:41

@MonkeyToucher I wonder if because it was a low order value it went through okay and they already have things like that in stock to send? Like I said it was £900 worth of product so not a cheap order and like a PP said perhaps they are having money/ cash flow problems!

I am glad I've gone with another company now, as with warranty etc I would be a bit dubious! Money went back into my account today with the charge back so that's all good too!

I contacted Joolz initially to see if the company were still trading with them (as with no replies etc thought perhaps they were busy!) and they said yes they were but perhaps I will send a follow up email to confirm what's happened! I didn't purchase the buggy from a baby show event, I went directly through their website (as I said I had thought they had a store in my local town and had heard of them before but since discovered it's closed down!!)

OP posts:
cardboard33 · 12/02/2019 10:08

@fullofquestion I'd definitely send Joolz a follow up email just telling them what the outcome was for you as if they don't hear these stories they will continue dealing with the company and/or won't ask questions themselves of their suppliers. I'm pretty sure I've seen Joolz products in places like JL but their prams were never really a contender for us so didn't get into the nitty gritty of where to buy it in the area.

IAmWonderWoman · 12/02/2019 11:29

This happens to us 7 years ago. Bought from the baby show and the pram finally arrived at the shop on Northcote road the day before I went in to labour.

I miss Clapham Jct.

sickmumma · 27/02/2019 14:08

I just wanted to update this thread since receiving an email from Joolz - I have been told that they are now no longer trading with Peppermint at all - this is all in the space of 20 days. I have still not heard from peppermint at all so I am assuming the company is no longer operating!!

sickmumma · 27/02/2019 14:15

Please do not order from this shop, trying to stop anyone making the same
Mistakes I did! Their website is still up and running and joolz pushchairs still available to purchase!
