1st trimester - which dates?

My LMP calculates me at 10 weeks, but when we had a private scan at 8 weeks the sonographer put me a few days back.

When I went for my midwife appt, she went by my LMP.

Which date would you use?

Appreciate there is only a matter of days different and shouldn’t obsess over due date etc, but it would just be good to have 1 date to go by. When parents asked how far gone we were, me & DH gave different answers!

I had one date, my early scan put me back about 6 days! Then my 12 week put my forward 3 days..
The most accurate dating scan is the 12 week scan and an early scan (mine was also 8 weeks) isn't completely accurate as bean is still so small

Only 5% of babies are born on their due date. I had ivf, so dates are well-known and exact for me, but I still tell people 'early March' or 'about a month to go' because there are no guarantees about when she'll be born.

Yes sonographer at private scan told me date is likely to change again at 12 week scan.

I calculated 4th March, early scan calculated 1st March and 12 week scan calculated 27th Feb. Sonographer said the 12 week scan was most accurate. So I'd go by what date is given to you at your 12 week scan- this is the date that your midwife & health professionals will go by throughout your pregnancy anyway.

I had a two week difference between LMP and early scan at 7+3. Further scans at 12 and 16 weeks have confirmed the date I got at the early scan.
