I'm 5+5 and true to form as happened in my previous two pregnancies at the same time I have come down with an absolute stinker of a cold/sinus infection. Any recommendations for what can help and is safe to take? Previously have just used paracetamol and sterimar spray but this time it's hit at the same time as the sickness has started so i am just totally floored and have a full day with the 4yo ahead!

Hi, I'm 11 weeks and have two colds, a stomach virus and sinusitis. I didn't find sterimar much help, and have used paracetamol to keep my temperature down.
Beconase is safe in pregnancy and has a steroid which will help with inflammation. It's prescription only in pregnancy but I'm sure you can get away with over the counter at this stage if you don't mention it. If sinusitis lasts more than 10 days with a temperature you may need antibiotics (although depends on your symptoms)
I am on day 4 of antibiotics because my sinus infection (one sided, tooth pain and green discharge) was still going strong at day 14 and they are now working so symptoms are improving. Apparently most sinus infections are viral though, so GP will assess on your symptoms.
I think the congestion does add to the nausea and is unpleasant enough by itself so you have my sympathies!

I got a few colds during this pregnancy :( I took some baby calpol nasal spray, vicks and children’s cough syrup (can’t remember the brand but it did say on the packet that it was safe during pregnancy). Other than that just sleeping and riding it out.

You have my sympathies. It’s so miserable!

In my last pregnancy I suffered greatly from this. Was told I couldn't take any sinus medication, only paracetamol and a natural sinus spray. They didn't work so the doctor gave me antibiotics and they did clear it up but it would come back again. It was so bad I was even sent to the AMAU for a CT scan. By chance I bumped into an acupuncturist and she saved my life. I was 20 weeks by this stage. She said she could help so I gave it a go. In the week following the first session I felt some relief, it wasn't gone but wasn't as bad. I kept going weekly and it completely went.
For this pregnancy it came on again, I'm working in a bigger city now, went to a big chemist and was told I could have sudafed (In moderation) and given an otrivine spray. I checked the leaflet for the sudafed expecting it to say not to be taken during pregnancy, but it didn't. I just take one tablet whenever I feel particularly bad to relieve the pressure and decongest.
