Elective section due to pre eclampsia

Hi all,

I've recently been diagnosed with pre eclampsia and I am now on close monitoring etc. I am likely to have my baby earlier than my due date.

Does anyone know if I am entitled to an elective section due to the pre eclampsia rather than being induced?

Any advice would be fab..

Thank you,

Emily

You are. You don't have to consent to induction. Just keep saying "I've researched the risks of both and j do not consent to induction, I'll have a section". They will try and get you to agree to induction but keep refusing. Once they realise that you mean it they'll give you a section.

Thank you so much this is very helpful! I just feel I've been through so much stress with this pre eclampsia and id like things to go as smoothly as possible!!

You’re entitled to an ELCS regardless of your reasons. You may have to be quite insistent but you should be allowed one.

Thank you @Stinkytoe that is helpful. I know it's difficult to get an ELCS without any medical reason so was wondering if pre eclampsia would allow me to have one without such a fight Confusedxx
