Slipped and fell

16 weeks here and I had a bit of a fall today which was entirely my own fault (I was hurrying on the rainy pavements and slipped). I am a bit worried because my feet went right out from under me and I fell on my front / side without managing to get my hands down. I've got some seriously impressive bruises from hip to rib cage and I felt a bit shaken up and sick when it happened, but now I'm feeling fine (if a bit stiff and sore!).

I'm just slightly worried that I might have hurt the baby - I don't feel as though anything is wrong, but I hope I'm not being too blasé in not getting it checked out?? I have a MW appointment at the end of the week in any case...

@bellainthemiddle I would maybe just ring your midwife unit and tell them they would be able to give u advice on what to do. I'm sure your baby will be ok. But just to ease your mind I would ring over. X

I would probably call and get some advice if just to set your mind at rest. Baby is well protected but it can't hurt to be reassured.

I have had a few falls through my pregnancy (37+4 now) which I haven't followed up however I have always fell into my bum or knees so has never been anywhere near my belly. However with it being so close to your belly, I personally would just give the midwife/DAU a ring if they're still open just to get some advice. They don't tend to put you on the monitor until 26 weeks but they can still scan/use the Doppler to check heart beat etc. No one will ever tell you your being too cautious because yours and your babies health is paramount to the midwives etc x

Thanks so much for the advice! I was feeling like I wanted to check really, but was worried that I was being a paranoid first-time mum! Will ring.
