Early scan concerns

Should I be worried. I thought I was 7+2 weeks when I went for my trans abdominal scan. (Unfortunately they didn't offer transvaginal)

Gestation sac measuring just under 6 weeks seen.
No yolk sac or foetal pole seen. We have to wait 2 weeks for a re-scan.

It is possible I'm a week behind where I thought if I ovulated late.. but even at that, should there have been something visible in the gestation sac?

I have been doing clearblue digital tests and got
1-2 weeks on 16/1/19
2-3 weeks on 21/1
And 3+ weeks on 28/1

Is this likely to still be normal- or is it more likely to be blighted ovum?
I have not had a great deal of symptoms on this pregnancy.

Would the NHS offer me a transvaginal scan for peace of mind based on findings of a private scan? I'm guessing not? X

Hi
I am in the same position as you (apart from I’ve also had some spotting which is why I was referred for an early scan). Wanted to reply to offer a hand hold but I don’t really have any advice. I went for my scan last week should have been 7+1 but sac was measuring 5+4. I had both an abdominal and vaginal scan and neither showed anything but the sac. I’ve been advised to go back in two weeks as well - I’ve had the same progression on clear blue tests and dark positive first response tests but I’m not sure if they can be relied upon or not on this scenario xx

Sorry to hear you are going through this, what a huge worry. I’ve avoided an early scan for exactly this reason-so much stress can be caused.

It’s impossible to say if your dates are out or if there is an issue with development-only thing you can do is wait the 2 weeks suggested.

Symptoms or lack of can make no difference either, people get to 12 wk scan to show MMC and had full symptoms, others have no symptoms and healthy babies.

It’s just a horrible waiting game and I’m sorry you are both going through it.

I’m 8+1, ancient to be having first baby and terrified of MC, especially as my symptoms have been light. I’ll know at 10+3 if we have a heartbeat.

I hope there is some good news for you both soon!

@CJ2003 I'm sorry you are going through this as well- it's a horrible limbo! I knew it was a risk when we opted to for an early scan - but I thought at over 7 weeks it would be a definite one way or the other. I also thought if it wasn't viable, I would have started miscarrying. It's annoying how the clearblue tests may not be an indicator.

@Megan2018 thanks for your reply! If I had my time over, I'm not sure I would go for an early scan... but I also hate the idea of waiting 12 weeks and then getting bad news. I just have to try keep distracted for 2 weeks and hope it goes fast. My partner suggested going for a transvaginal scan next week, but I don't know if that will just make it worse x

@lovepositivity
I’d wait 2 weeks for a rescan, if you are 5+4 you’d be better off waiting until you are well over 7 for another scan, otherwise you might see little change. Hopefully in 2 weeks there will be significant changes to report!

What a rollercoaster it is though. I feel as though I am in some kind of time warp!

I had my early scan due to bleeding at 6+3 (or so I thought) they said I was around 5 weeks. Only thing visible was the sac and yolk sac (yolk sac only came visible when she switched to transvaginal) Like you, I was really worried reading up on blighted ovum etc.

Two weeks later at my follow up scan I saw my little sweet, with a heartbeat and I was dated at 8 weeks. (Back in line with my original dates)

Days make so much difference in the early days. For example, you could go two days following your scan and see a baby with a heartbeat.

Try not to google, keep your mind busy. Sending you lots of positive thoughts Thanks

@BeeYouTiful aww I'm delighted for you. That's great news. Hopefully we will also be lucky. I just wish there was even a trace of a yolk sac! I'll stay super busy in the next 2 weeks and try my best not to let my mind wander (impossible?!)
