Successful Pregnancy after miscarriage

Hey I'm currently 4 weeks pregnant (just found out!)

I've had a previous miscarriage, when I went for my 12 week scan they found that the baby hadn't progressed past 9 weeks 😢
I had a d and c procedure and have had a period about 7 weeks after.

I think what knocked me was I had a private scan at 9 weeks exactly and baby looked perfect, could see that little heartbeat and everything. But must of been soon after that scan when that little heart stopped.

I also found out I'm rhesus neg so had a lovely injection in the bum 😂

So I am very nervous this time around, I'm hoping that this one will turn out alright. I found out 3 days before missed period this time (last time the second line didn't appear until the day of the missed period) I'm hoping this is a good sign as the hormone is stronger? maybe I'm just overthinking it.

I'm torn on whether to get an early scan this time around, as I don't think I'll be even the least bit reassured this time round. But I was thinking getting one around 10 weeks since this is past the point of losing my first. Any advice?

I know everyone's going to be different but is there anyone who is in the same situation or has been got any positive stories of pregnancy after miscarriage?

Could use some positive thinking

I'm due to give birth to my rainbow girl on Wednesday after having a miscarriage in early 2018. I've pretty much been pregnant for over a year! The first trimester really drags. I had several reassurance scans offered by the NHS. I still worry and look forward to her coming into the world. Best wishes to you. Xx

That's amazing, congrats!

Thanks for sharing, I'll probably go for a scan I'm sure I'll still worry but I honestly love seeing them move around 💕

I had my rainbow in October after two missed miscarriages like yours, didn’t find out until the first scan. I had two private scans at 5 and 7 weeks with the second one which were pointless looking back because it all looked healthy and positive but the heartbeat still went on to stop. With my DS I just waited it out until the first scan and tried not to get overly hopeful or attached as best as possible so it was a lovely surprise when all was healthy!

My first pregnancy ended in MC (Dec 2015), I then went on to have DS in Nov 2016. I am due no.2 (3rd pregnancy) in April! I hope this all goes well for you!

@outpinked yeah I'm finding it hard to get excited at the moment, but don't want to stress and harm the baby. I kind of wish I didn't take a test yet and waited a few weeks.

@ChocolateChipMuffin2016 Thank you! and congrats! Hoping I get my rainbow baby too

I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant with my rainbow. Like you, I had a good scan at 8 weeks then went in to the EPU for some pains at 11 weeks and found out it was a MMC. I was devastated as i'm sure you were too.
This time I decided I wanted the early scans to reassure me and give me shorter milestones to reach as the 12 week scan felt so far away. I went for one at 8 weeks and another at 10 weeks but we paid privately as the NHS wouldn't see me before 12 weeks. It has to be up to you but this worked for me and helped with the anxiety.
Good luck with your pregnancy, it's not easy after a loss at all and I have struggled but you have to think it'll all be worth it in the end x

@TedLife

thankyou so much!

yeah I'm hoping some scans can give me some reassurance because I'm a nervous wreck rn!

I'm at the doctors tomorrow for initial appointment so hopefully can see if they will refer me for scans or if I need to pay.

id be happy to pay though, it's so worth it.

congrats on your rainbow!

Hello I had 2x missed mc and found out at 12 week scan both times. Now say here feeding my smashing 10 week old DD who I am completely smitten with. So try not to worry too much. It’s very hard to relax I know xx
