Heloo everyone, thought about a name change but i guess we talk about everything during pregnancy!!!!
Last night i needed to go but couldn't, i strained alot and there was liquid and when i looked it was dark blood!!!(Quite a bit). (Definatley from the back )
It happened again this morning. I've just had a quick google and it seems normal so i just wanted to ask, has it happened to anyone else????????

I really don't want to go to G.P!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is very common. Go to the pharmacist and get some anusol. Sounds as though you have an internal haemorrhois that has bled because you have strained. You can insert ointment or anusol supposiroty. Pharmacist will advise best product.

Could well be caused by piles, but the fact that you say it is dark might suggest that it has been partially digested so could be a bleeding point further up IYSWIM. A trip to the doctors is very much in order I'm afraid. These things really shouldn't be ignored and can be a sign of something that needs to be treated. Not trying to scare you but the GP will be able to suss it out and put your mind at rest. Let us know how you get on!

Sorry Mears, cross posted. Your the expert on things on pregnancy, just concerned me that it is dark blood.

Angeliz · 06/09/2004 12:25

Thanks you two.
Flossam, that was my mix up really. I meant dark blood as in normal colour and not a pink tinge IYSWIM!!

And take some steps to relieve the constipation, if it's still a problem (drink more water, eat plenty of fruit but not bananas, and you can take Fybogel or lactulose if necessary).

beansprout · 06/09/2004 13:24

Oh, why not bananas? (says Bean, about to eat a banana....)

gingernut · 06/09/2004 13:26

They are consipating, apparently (so if you are not constipated then go ahead! )

beansprout · 06/09/2004 13:29

Blimey - you have to be so careful! Will counteract with some prunes... oh joy!!

Angeliz · 06/09/2004 13:36

Didn't know that about bananas!
I eat tonnes at the moment!!!!! Maybe the cause!

I understood bananas were supposed to help with constipation? I recently started to eat them regularly with my cereal in the morning along with about 2 pints of water and bam!! I started going again

SofiaAmes · 06/09/2004 21:21

Oh not, bananas are definitely constipating. My ds only has to look at one and he doesn't poo for days. I have had piles for most of my adult life. They were even worse when I was pregnant...blood out of my backside..yuck. I highly recommend Proctofoam. Get your gp to prescribe it. It works really really well, much better than anything else out there and I've tried just about everything.
