(Ahem) piles & lots of blood

Hi all

NC for this because..... well.

Have had piles for most of this pregnancy (am 30 weeks). Have noticed bleeding is getting worse when I go to the toilet; today I noticed I passed lots of clots and quite a lot of blood. This isn't unusual for me.

NHS website says if you're passing clots to go to A&E. I don't want to do that, and am inclined to think it's quite normal. Can anyone help or advise?

Thank you!

I'd be heading to a and e. Just because it's 'normal for you' doesn't mean it's a good thing...

Oh if it is that bad you will need to be seen.

If you aren't having severe blood loss right now maybe avoid A&E and visit the Gp tomorrow instead, or speak to your midwife.

I work in a&e, and where you wouldn't get turned away or frowned upon you might experience long delays.

I feel for you Op, having suffering piles with DS2 I can honestly say it's like a form of torture. However, they didn't seem as bad as the ones you are having.

Thanks so much all. They don't actually hurt; well sometimes they do but I'm fairly used to them now! Definitely internal but it's the blood loss / clotting that concerns me.

Did have a scare from a blood test 2 weeks ago and got admitted with suspected blood clot..... I guess I've found the culprit! Will run midwife in the morning I think and take from there. My usual mantra is if i feel fine and am not in lots of pain then that's a good sign?

Or am I being naive? Agh.

No answer from midwife all day. Will try again tomorrow; or just wait for GP appt!

Eergency GP appt OP. Your midwife won’t be able to prescribe you anything.

No emergency appts at my GP so am waiting til my appt tomorrow. Still feel fine it's just a fairly worrying amount of blood to lose; but always looks worse than it is!
