Buying a pram off ebay-have you/would you?

I have been thinking about buying 2 in one or 3 in one pram off ebay.i.e would probably be second hand.
Anyone tell me if they would recommend it(or not)
I've bought various from ebay but never something as big as pram.
If you have bought one & it was posted did it arrive packed ok?
Also am I right in saying not to use 2nd hand car seat cos you never know if its been in accident or not-I think I would go for 2in1 & buy new car seat or am I being over cautious?
its just that going into our local pram store for say Mamas & Papas latest model it can be £500+ & I'm thinking I could get that on ebay for £100 or so.Anyone any experiences good or bad they can share with me-appreciated.

yes i have...3 times!!

first one we collected as was nearby. Second was a brand new dbl buggy and so was boxed but arrived promptly and no problems.

3rd time was yesterday so not received it yet, but can update you later in the week. But i wouldnt expect any problems.

If you are a bit nervous why not look for one that is from an ebay shop rather than a private seller or change the listing order to 'nearest to your address' then buy one locally that you can pay cash and collect personally.

Most Ebay items this big, 2nd hand especially, tend to be pick up only.
I'm going to try and sell mine, for the 2nd time, but can't really stick a £20 odd charge for p+p (unless they really want to pay that?!)

I'd just check out the seller's feedback score and the other items they're selling, usually gives a gd indication of whether they're actually getting rid of their old baby stuff or they're selling big items that will roll in the cash!

You could always ask on here if anyone's got one going? They might be a bit more reliable, and try freecycle you might get one free or for a barter!!

there's nothing worng with second hand stuff, dont buy seccond hand car seat though, you're completely right about that, my mil has bought us a pram from a car boot and it looks nearly new!

just means you'll have more money to spend on your DC

I have a few times now and would again.
I wouldnt use a 2nd hand carseat but thats me, my friend uses her 2nd hand one quite happily.
Always packaged ok and never had any problems. I have bought a little chicco stroller, a phil and teds double with cocoon etc and most recently last week I bought a brand new rear and foward facing pram for £50.

what pram are you looking for rascals? Or what features would you like?? Is it for walking or in and out the car? I would personally always decide what type you want and look at a few brands around that type on ebay.Get a good idea of how much previous ones have sold for by looking at completed listings, so you dont pay over the odds.

I have bought prams twice from ebay, once was pick-up and brand new so no probs, and the other was posted and also fine. I did end up selling both on though because they didn't really meet my needs in the end (my fault, not the sellers), so I suppose my advice would be to try to check out the actual model in a shop first. Then of course check the sellers feedback to get an idea of how reliable they are.

I bought my pushchair from ebay - i chose the one I wanted then waited for it to come up. Was a bargain, but I did go and pick it up.

The other excellent site is gumtree here. That has LOADS of pushchairs and baby stuff on it. I bought a sling from there recently. It's a bit London centric, not sure where you are.

I bought a brand new inglissina (sorry spelling) with ds1 was £50 cheaper than shops (inc p&p) arrived in new box by courier and I took it out of the new packaging. Would definately do it again.

Wouldn't buy a second hand car seat but that's my opinion...

I bought a new pram of ebay a few weeks ago now and it arrived perfect, there are some good sites on ebay that have brand new prams,strollers etc. and they are all a lot cheaper than the shops. I went onto online4baby and got my baby swing for £30 new, I cant remember the name of the site I got the pram but it was German and had the name Carmen in it (memory is pathetic) but it is both pram and 3 wheeler pushchair and under £200. Ive saved a fortune but I too wouldnt get second hand car seat, but they are also on these sites brand new so its worth taking a look before you go to shops

Oh i wish more people would post out prams, living in the channel Islands we have a naff selection of prams to choose from. I am looking for one at the moment for when i have my nephew to stay.

Have bought a double pram many yeas ago-2nd hand- and it arrived fine.

Bought a double buggy second hand and it was posted out. It was in mint condition and only cost me £85.

I have also bought and sold car seats. I kinda think that most folk, especially on Ebay, are honest types and if they'd been in an accident then they'd have thrown the car seat in the bin. So I do think that any that appear on Ebay are genuine second hand ones.

I bought one but only bid on it as it was within picking up distance. I emailed them and asked if I could collect it or meet somewhere convenient rather than them posting it.

It was a great condition, mamas and papas for £16, can't be wrong!

I bought a huge three wheeler double buggy second hand a few years ago. I knew the one I wanted from seeing and pushing friends' ones. I got it posted and it arrived in mint condition, as described. It was my first ebay purchase and was so successful have gone a bit ebay crazy since.

I recently bought my Phil and Teds from an Ebay shop and had no problems at all.I was in a bit of a panic though as I had it imported from the States,but it arrived in one piece,with no customs charge and I love it.
Haven't bought a 2nd hand buggy off Ebay,but I certainly wouldn't be put off,especially if the sellers feedback was good.

ive bought anbd sold literally 100's of prams pushchairs and buggies ebay

the latest pram ive bought as due in december(i know im mad ive bought a pram already)i got a gorgeous mamas and papas 3 in 1 cost me £250 secodn hand but it would have cost £750 new with all the extras and it was only 6 wks old

it cam beautifully packged and so clean and some brand new m and p sheets and blankets still wrapped with £24 labels on them,
you also have to remember, mines still a current colour and the foot muff and bag would have set me back £110 alone and they were with it

im mega please and my mum just saw it in my garage and thought it couldnt believe it wasnt brand new

with all the prams ive boought from e bay most posted and some collected, the only problem i ever had was when i had asked someone to sell outside of e bay and then the item came and was wrecked, but not much i could do about it by then and my own fault anyway

i second the feedback, and trying out in store so u know eaxctly what u need and not just what you want, and finally make sure u buy through ebay so you have there back up and if possible pay by paypal, and then if the item doesnt arrive or turns up damaged u have a good chance of of getting a refund

I would def buy off ebay if I were you, I have bought two now: a 2nd hand loola which came fine but was not what I expected but that was my fault cause I hadn't seen one in RL before I bought it. Didn't matter though cause I re-sold it on ebay without losing any money then bought a second hand Urban detour 3 wheeler. My advice would be to make sure you see and try what you'd like in a shop first then try and find one on e bay, this way you'll know what to expect. And don't be afraid of asking the seller loads of questions.

I saw a thread on here a while back about someone who had bought a pram off ebay that really smelled of fag smoke - so check it is from smoke/pet free house if buying second hand

i had DS's brand new for £50 (should have been £110) Also had a second hand buggy for not much, arrived in good nick.

I bought a micralite recently and it's great. I paid £46 and go the buggy, the buggy snuggle, a brolly and the bag to take it on a plane.
I would definitly do it again. I had to pick it up and the lady I got it from was lovely, showed me how to open it etc. I have also bought other big stuff such as a play pen- this was brand new though
