If your second pregnancy was much the same as your first, did you have a different sex?

As the title says! DC2 is a surprise, but so far my pregnancy has progressed pretty much exactly as it did with DS. Wondered if anyone has experience of a similar pregnancy but babies were different sexes?

My pregnancies were very different and I had one of each

GlamourBear · 03/02/2019 18:43

Second pregnancy very different from first and both the same sex here Smile

juneau · 03/02/2019 18:45

Almost identical pregnancies - same sexes.

beela · 03/02/2019 18:48

My pregnancies were very similar, had one of each.

Bloo22 · 03/02/2019 18:49

All my pregnancy’s were very different and I’ve got 4 of the same

soundsystem · 03/02/2019 19:00

My first two pregnancies were pretty similar, and I have one of each. This pregnancy feels different (I have had whole days where I haven't thrown up!) but the baby obviously must be the same sex as one of the others.

So in my case there doesn't seem to be a connection!

Thesearmsofmine · 03/02/2019 19:03

Three very different pregnancies and all boys.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 03/02/2019 19:05

Two identical pregnancies. One of each.

sweetkitty · 03/02/2019 19:07

4 identical pregnancies, 3 girls 1 boy

Scottay · 03/02/2019 19:08

Following if thats okay @tableforjane, don't know what sex of baby is but old wives tales say a boy. Not sure if i believe these though

Echobelly · 03/02/2019 19:09

Mine were very similar - not much sickness, generally feeling quite good, only with DS (first is DD) I was utterly exhausted at the beginning, and then had an awful rash at the end. That made me suspect I was having a boy, as I had heard these pregnancy rashes were more common with boys, as they can be a reaction to male hormones in the woman's system or something like that.

DramaAlpaca · 03/02/2019 19:09

Three very different pregnancies resulting in three very different boys.

Ploppymoodypants · 03/02/2019 19:37

Similar pregnancies and both girls.

Weepingwillows12 · 03/02/2019 19:39

Very different pregnancies, two the same. I don't think how you feel whilst pregnant can identify sex sorry.

Yulebealrite · 03/02/2019 19:41

Two pregnancies virtually the same - different sexes.

TableforJane · 03/02/2019 20:06

Some interesting responses, thanks! I know that pregnancy symptoms giving a clue to the sex is purely old wives’ tales, but it’s interesting! I suspect this will be another boy Smile

Two very different pregnancies, and both the same sex.

HerbertDibDab · 03/02/2019 22:06

Very similar pregnancies with both of mine and I had one of each.

Oh this is interesting! I’m pregnant with DC2, a surprise, but I’m assuming it’s a boy as it is almost the exact same pregnancy as DS! We’ll find out in 7-12 weeks!

TableforJane · 04/02/2019 09:04

@ChocolateChipMuffin2016 9-14 weeks for me Grin I’ve never heard it put like that, I’m guessing it’s the range from 37-42 weeks.

Tempted to stalk follow you to find out what you end up having!

Im curious about this too! Have a son and 33 weeks with baby number 2, dont know the gender!
This pregnancy has been fairly similar in some ways but Im nowhere near as big as I was wth DS and dont have same cravings or food aversions. Cant wait to find out!

Marmaladehandbag · 04/02/2019 10:14

I would say both had different challenges. Currently 33wks with #2 both DS's.

With both had MS, but second far worse with far worse food aversions. I didn't have HG, but it was absolutely awful! Was less tired with this one though. Had heavy bleeding with first, only a little in the beginning with second. Had hip pain with both, but worse with second and started earlier and still getting worse 😔. Have weird leg cramps, heartburn and higher bump with this one and he's more active, but my first ds was an SGA baby and had reduced movement at the end.

My bump doesn't seem to have grown much in last couple of weeks though and am wondering if this pregnancy will follow suit with the growth rate declining in the final 4 weeks as with first. I did have a scan last week though, and rate of growth was fine.

Both have renal pelvis dilation picked up on scans though and if you overlaid their scan pictures on top of each other they look identical. We are expecting this one to look very much like our first (had a sneaky 3d peak at a growth scan and look v similar).

I don't think you can tell on symptoms. What does your gut instinct tell you? I was convinced it was a girl up until about 16 weeks with both, then strongly felt boy and was right.

OutPinked · 04/02/2019 10:48

I have two boys and two girls. Both boy pregnancies were the same and both girl pregnancies were. Boy pregnancies I felt and looked like shit until about 20 weeks, girl pregnancies I had virtually zero symptoms.

SuzieBishop · 04/02/2019 12:40

I had my DS after an amazing pregnancy. I'm now pregnant with DD and it's been totally different!
