Reduced fetal movement

Help 😫 I'm just shy of 34 weeks and being monitored daily for reduced fetal movements 😢 anyone had a good outcome with this? I'm so worried about my baby, he doesn't move nearly as much as he should and normally does. I feel like I'm dealing with it all on my own too because my partner really doesn't give a shit 😞😭 xx

So sorry you are going through this on your own ;(

My DS was induced at 36+6 as his movements where reduced - they found that my cord had reduced blood flow. He delivered at 5lb 2oz, we've had a few bumps in the road but nothing really compared to what some people have to go through.
Keep positive (my second was just born at 35+5, babies are a lot stronger than we think)

Write down notes if when and what movements felt like for a few hours then call the midwife in the morning with a record of movement over the next few hours

flumpybear · 03/02/2019 04:34

.... it's probably fine but best to get checked

ShanAmanda · 03/02/2019 05:10

I'm already writing everything down; he was a very active baby up until yesterday, he's normally moving about as soon as I'm awake regardless what time it is and he just seems to have gone from once end of the scale to the other. The hospital are doing an emergency scan this week but I'm petrified 😢 xx

@ShanAmanda I'm in a very similar position.
I'm just over 35 weeks.
TBH I've had reduced movements on and off throughout the pregnancy. The hospital have been great and have checked me every time. I've had regular scans (all well-baby is actually very big), blood flow is good in the cord and all monitoring has been fine.

Usually though, when I go in for monitoring the movements pick up again soon after. However this time it's been about 3 days (the movements aren't gone, they are reduced).
During those 3 days I've had 3 CTGs and a scan and all are very reassuring. I've been invited back for more monitoring on Monday but I've been told to call back tomorrow if they stay reduced then.

I don't really know how I feel. It's all so nerve wracking. All monitoring looks great, but I feel like I should be getting these reassuring kicks!
I've been awake since 2ish and I've had a few in the past few hours though so fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear you're not getting much support from your partner. Do you have friends or family close by?

Rafabella · 03/02/2019 07:15

@ShanAmanda Hope you're ok and have managed to get some rest. For reassurance why don't you head to your maternity hospital this morning rather than waiting for your appointment this week. They won't turn you away.

flumpybear · 03/02/2019 08:15

I'd do the same as @Rafabella

Go in today. Don’t wait. I had 3 babies, all delivered early due to reduced movements. They are all fine, I’m certain only because I got the care I needed.

ShanAmanda · 03/02/2019 09:03

I'm already at the hospital :) after a CTG yesterday I was asked to come back everyday for monitoring until they can do a scan :) I wouldn't even think of not going regardless of how many times my partner says it's a waste of time ect. Baby is more important ❤️

Good luck with everything, it's really scary time and if you aren't being supported that must even worse.

Sounds like the hospital are totally on it and keeping you monitored so hopefully fingers crossed all will be ok x

NicoleNoPants · 03/02/2019 09:44

Have you got a friend/ family member who can come with you OP as your partner is being such a dick?

snoopy18 · 03/02/2019 20:43

I’m in a similair position - went in tonight again for reduced movement. Baby is nowhere as near active as usual. Heartbeat is fine have been advised to go back in again tomorrow if not happy with movement. Had growth scan Thursday as had reduced movement about 2 weeks ago. Scary stuff isn’t it :-/

Hope you’re ok

bonzo77 · 04/02/2019 14:42

Daily monitoring is good. Surprised they couldn’t scan you. I always had a basic scan in triage and then one with the fetal medicine consultant within a day or two.

ShanAmanda · 08/02/2019 06:28

Late update!
Baby is fine, just a little devil, we had a couple more days of monitoring before the scan and everything is okay; baby is head down and apparently getting ready to engage and since the scan we've had lots of movement 😊
