Hi wonder if anyone could help and put my mind at ease till Monday when I can call the midwife, my DD has come down with chicken pox, still and the very early stages of spots appearing, obviously now I'm getting abit nervous about catching it. I have asked my mum if I have had it and she seems pretty sure I've had it, but that was along time ago so I hope so, but I'm starting to feel itchy and any little itchy pimple popping up and panicking. I have had shingles before as a child too, so would this mean I would of got chicken pox? Online isn't really helping me so not too sure what to think xxx tia

If you've had shingles then you must have had chicken pox as you can only develop shingles if you've had chicken pox previously

How many weeks / months pg are you OP?
Chicken pox only an issue in pregnancy if you haven’t had it as a child & are in the first or last trimester.

My dd had chicken pox when I was pregnant with my second. The midwife said as I had it as a child there was nothing to worry about.

@EarringsandLipstick I'm currently 21 +4 my mum believes I have had it, with my sisters but pretty blasé about it. So just a little unsure but I know I have had shingles and went to the doctors to confirm it, I have a good memory of that at least, x

Weirdly I had this exact same scenario, I was diagnosed with chicken pox and then shingles as a child and my daughter got it when I was pregnant. I called the GP surgery who sent me for a blood test and I was found to have no immunity, so I had a vaccine.
I guess my situation is pretty unusual but its definitely worth having the blood test. I had to wait a few days for my vaccine because they had to order it in specially, but everything turned out fine. I was in my first trimester when this happened.

I’m pregnant and DD has just had chicken pox a couple of weeks ago.
Dr said not to worry if I had it as a child (I did).
I have been fine and Dr was really reassuring. She did say to keep an eye out for symptoms when we first spoke and to get in touch ASAP with an symptoms.

I think trying to get my mum to remember 30 odd years ago and also have to siblings close in age for her to definitely be sure I had it could be abit of an ask, I do wish we have records kept in case of situation like this, but I will just kind of go by what my mum is saying, also that I've had shingle too, but I will call up the doctors and see what they think xx
