Cosmocol during pregnancy

Hi,
Before I got pregnant I was prescribed cosmocol by my GP. I was told by a doc to stop taking them however my midwife was not too happy about it.
Midwife told me to try lactulose first however it really doesn't work for me and my kind of IBS.
Has anyone else took the orange cosmocol sachets whilst pregnant?
Thanks x

I am taking Laxido every day - which I believe is the same ingredients as cosmocol. I also cant take lactulose cos of IBS. The manufacturers of laxido state it is safe for pregnancy so go armed with that if you go back to GP - mine had to look it up online when i asked for it but was happy to prescribe it and put it on repeat.

Hi OP

I was prescribed this on Monday as I was really constipated. She was very wary prescribing me this but did, I’ll be honest I personally had really bad cramps after taking this. I usually have movicol (which as PP said about Laxido - Movicol is similar ingredients to them both) id never heard of CosmoCol until this week!

I did manage to ‘go’ but as I say the pains were quite bad. I’d probably have another chat with your GP and just explain around the lactulose (I know a lot of people who struggle to take it) how far along are you in your pregnancy? I’m 29 weeks atm.

Great thank you. I'll make an appointment to see my GP again.
I'm nearly 11 weeks x x

I've been using cosmocol prescribed by my GP twice a day since 6 weeks. I'm 18 weeks now and have had no probs 😊

Oh really. I'm going to go see my GP this week then and tell him I want to go back on them. X x x
