Anyone know what chances of MMC are?

Hey
I've already had one MMC back in 2017 and we've been TTC since. I found out last month I'm pregnant and now 8 weeks.

Had a little brown spotting but nothing else, tonnes of symptoms like food aversions, cant even open the fridge without feeling sick, a LOT of nausea, my boobs are AGONY but I'm just so scared of another MMC. Does anyone know what the chance of MMC is and even more recurring MMC? My mmc was my only pregnancy so I'm finding it really difficult to bond with my 8 week baby because I just can't see me getting past the 12 week scan. I know that sounds awful!

I have pcos too which I take Metformin for so don't know if that'll make any difference?

Thanks xxxx

Congratulations 🥰🥰 I’ve also just suffered a MMC - really is a horrible experience. I have been reassured by the doctors that it was just bad luck and very unlikely to happen again. They only do tests when it’s happens 3 times. It sounds like your getting all of the right symptoms. All I can advise is that you take your vitamins and RElAX, take it easy. The first 12 weeks are the most important. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry. Having just experienced a MMC you just have to think it’s our body’s way of saying somethings not right and this time things will be right xxx good luck with your pregnancy xx take it easy and try not to worry xxx

Also you should qualify for a an early scan! Ask your GP or midwife xxx

I have no idea about stats but I had a mmc discovered at 12 week scan. I fell pg after and had a scan at 7 weeks for my own sanity! Baby was healthy and have had no further problems (unless you count 12 year old strops!!) also had another pregnancy with no problems. I don't think there's any reason to believe you have a greater chance of a mmc after one. Get yourself an early scan to out your mind at rest.

I had a mmc and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had, because I thought I was 12 weeks and it all came crashing down without me knowing.
I went on to have another child and I’m now pregnant with my third. It’s stikk early days, but had a scan at 7 weeks and all was ok. They want to scan me again at 12 like normal but I may pay for a private one at 10 to reassure me a bit. I don’t think a MMC ever leaves you. I will be very relieved when I get that 12 week scan. Good luck

Thanks everyone, yeah I agree my mmc was the worst experience of my life. My SIL had a baby about 3 weeks after too which pretty much ruined me 😬. I know it sounds awful but I really don't want to pay for a scan because IF it was another MMC I feel like it would be a punch in the face to have paid to get that info. I saw my Dr and she said I should be invited for a 10 week scan but haven't seen the midwife yet (seeing her next Friday) so fingers crossed 👀 just can't see myself actually having a baby. DH keeps saying 'you know where having a baby right?!' because I'm just not able to get connected. I hope after my scan I'll feel different xxxx

The risks will depend on age and other factors.

Miscarriage Association might have some useful info.

Hope you have good news when you have the scan.

Your way of handling it is fine, my DH too preferred to think positive, I was much more anxious. It makes no difference to the pregnancy either way!

Thank you! I keep telling him I'm not being negative just realistic xxx
