Pregnancy while Racing

I was just looking for opinions about racing while pregnant, I am not pregnant at the moment but will be finding out in the next few weeks. Over the summer I race a full schedule, about 15 races every Saturday night. I drive a dirt stock car that I am absolutely protected in. If I am pregnant now I will be 3-7 months pregnant throughout the season. April-August.

not worth the risk. I love motorsport but couldn't live with myself if something was to happen and i lost or hurt the baby

Is this a serious post? Your doctor would probably advise you not too, their insurance probably wouldn't cover you, any crash could cause a miscarriage etc. But it's all a bit of a moot point if you're not pregnant.

*to, not too Blush

No! Wouldn't risk it at all.

I take my racing very seriously. But I do not know yet if I am pregnant. I am hoping I am but not sure for a few more weeks. There are certain racing harnesses for pregnant women that support their belly while racing, in case a wreck occurred the baby would be held and not jolted around. I understand the risk but this is my job.

Normally I am pretty slack about risk e.g. I went skiing when pregnant. But no way would I be racing cars when pregnant. I have a friend who had an accident at around 7 months, she suffered placental separation and nearly lost the baby. And that was a relatively slow speed accident, let alone one at racing speed.

At the moment, your baby is a theory to you. You won’t have an emotional bond yet. As I mentioned, I went skiing, but I was only about 8 weeks pregnant with my second child . I am a very competent skier (and was racing on this trip). On the last day, I had a fall while not racing. Because I already had a child, the impact of what could have happened was very, very real to me. I got off the mountain and put my skis away until the next season.

OP at the end of the day it's your choice. You sound like right now you've already made up your mind. If you do find out you're pregnant maybe you will change your mind.
